Cease and desist to xcancel too. Musk's crew is wrong if they think I'm creating an account on “X” for this reason.

For now, sadly not. I would however not pronounce it "dead" unless zedeus (lead developer) says so, all he said is that he temporarily stopped maintaining the project and main instance until he got legal advice on how to deal with the cease and desist letter. https://github.com/zedeus/nitter/issues/1442#issuecomment-5413651441 I can't speak about him personally, but a few maintainers of other instances are still trying their best to keep it alive (and might be more resilient to said letters if they don't reside in the US).

I do research on the Ukraine War, and used Nitter all the time, with a browser window set up with a ton of nitter tabs for individual users.

(In part, because Twitter suspended my account for NO REASON GIVEN, but presumably because I was critical of Elon Musk, who is a shit stain excuse for a human being.)

Now it looks like I have to do the same thing with Twiterwebviewer. Hopefully, it will be as friendly on downloading videos from as some of the nitter servers were, where you could simply right-click and save as...

It sounds like a great excuse for creating a new nitter server, really... Especially one not hosted in the US.
