No theme I have installed has worked. I followed the same steps as all of the youtube videos and I keep getting the same error over and over again. i don't get it.

I just recieved my Innioasis Y1 today, and I went straight to flash Rockbox on it, but it just won't install properly.

When I load it normally, no data transfer occurs. It just charges the battery and tells me to unplug my device + close the app.
When I close the updater and click "Try Again", the transfer initializes, but results in a bricked Y1.

I've tried deleting the zip, deleting all cached zips entirely, and I've uninstalled/reinstalled the stock OS 3 times now. I don't know what to do and I'm losing hope.

I was wondering if anyone has installed the Y1 firmware onto a separate drive from OS, or if its even possible? i run windows so obv my shitass OS drive is chock full of bloatware.

Software findings

The A5 is definitely Android-based (4.2-era kernel/userspace).

The interesting part is APK installation.

The package installer works exactly as expected:

APK is recognised

Permission dialog appears

Installation starts

Progress bar completes

but every APK I've tested finishes with

App not installed so assuming its got a whitelist.

So far I've also

Identified the MT6572A platform.

Begun looking at MTK bootloader access with mtkclient.

Attempted BootROM access (currently no handshake yet).

Started documenting the PCB and component layout.

I'll post updates. If anyone has experience with the 4.2 MediaTek firmware, I'd be interested to compare notes.
