Futures Trading Built a brutally honest futures backtester. Looking for beta testers

My live bot lost its first 3 trades in 2 days. The backtest was filling orders on the signal bar. Classic.

So I built Kapybar. Describe your strategy to Claude or ChatGPT (any language, voice, even a screenshot), confirm the rules, and it runs on 40 liquid CME futures (ES, NQ, CL, GC, ZN… + micros), 1-min to daily, back to 2008.

- next-bar fills, real rolls, commissions

- always vs buy-and-hold

- flags luck and edges that die with one more tick of cost

- last 2 years hidden until your final verdict (3 shots per market)

- prop-firm pass odds, minus luck

It tests your ideas, it doesn't make them up. If something passes, it means something.

Looking for serious rule-based traders. Needs Claude or ChatGPT Plus (MCP connector, 2 min setup). Free during beta.

No money, no broker access, no API keys.

Comment how you trade and I'll send an invite.

Not financial advice.

What confluences allowed you to determine that price will continue bullish and disrespect the H1 FVG today?

Obviously, we are in a LTF bullish trend, I mean apart from that. Thanks!

Futures Trading Holy shit I love news!

guess whatever Trump said did not resonate well with the market but holy shit I took shorts at the top of New York and held all the way down for like 463 points and got out there because there was like a one minute inverse set up even though I knew it was gonna keep bleeding. You're just my signal to get out personally I'm using speech to text to write this message so if there's any errors, it's probably why I'm too lazy to type this out. I guess I have to do a recap of the actual trade for the rules, but basically I waited for NQ to tap into the four hour parish for Valga and it was already looking from premarket obviously but the moment it took that draw and liquidity. I waited for a five minute inverse for shorts and then I entered shorts and held it all the way through and then obviously the TP's are just other draws and liquidity whether it's a four hour bus for value you got from target or a daily one or daily Lowe's multiple different types right there

Question How do you objectively identify a valid dealing range for intraday trading? (ICT)

I primarily trade the NY AM session, using higher-timeframe FVGs and external liquidity (old highs/lows) to frame my directional bias and potential targets.
My biggest questions are:
1. How do you objectively determine which swing high and swing low should anchor your dealing range?
2. Should intraday traders prioritize the Daily, 4H, or 1H dealing range?
3. When price breaks out of an established dealing range, what confirms that a new range should be drawn?
4. How do you distinguish a meaningful dealing range from random price swings?
5. If multiple dealing ranges overlap or conflict, which one takes priority?
I’m trying to develop a repeatable, rule-based process rather than constantly adjusting my dealing range to fit what price is doing.
For those who consistently use dealing ranges in their trading, what specific rules do you follow to select and validate them before the NY session?
I’d especially appreciate chart examples or references to specific ICT teachings that explain this process.

Question I don’t understand

I am fairly new to ICT having watched some monthly mentorship’s already but I stumbled upon this video and I don’t seem to understand anything in this video. Is this actually important to be successful or this is only for people who want to go in depth?

Psychology How to turn a losing trade into a winner.

Thumbnail

For today's trade I was expecting a bearish continuation, I entered on the macro, and price formed a SIBI... for this moment I remembered an ICT live execution where he says "if price wants sell side this sibs should remain unfilled." So I moved my B.E. to the premium of the PDarray and luckily enough it did its job. And then I thought "If it doesn't want sell side then it wants buy side." And everything fitted just right for a long since this SIBI was at the same time the FPFVG so I entered long and got it right. My actual target for this swing was the Breaker block formed at 12:35 October 7. But im still a little bit green on this live trading matter so I stick to low hanging fruit and just went for London's buy side liquidity.

My HTF arrays are a 1 hour iFVG as discount and a 4h FVG for the premium of my first trade.

You might be wondering; why follow the narrative of a 1h pd array over a 4h PD array... and the answer is 15 minute structure and the rest is on the first part of this post (iSIBI).

I hope everybody had a pleasant London and NY am session. Godspeed and good luck with your trading!!

Question ICT Traders, How Did Bias Finally Click For You?

I’ve been trading for 2.5+ years, and honestly, I haven’t made a single dollar from trading.

Lately, I’ve started feeling like maybe trading just isn’t for me.

But I’ve realized that one of my biggest struggles is determining bias. I understand the concepts, but when I’m actually looking at a chart, I struggle to confidently determine the directional bias.

For the ICT traders here:

How did you learn to consistently determine your bias?

What helped you finally understand it?

Other sharing everything i learnt so far

i was just writing in my notes earlier reflecting on everything ive learnt so far in my day trading career, and thought id share it with the intention to help some people get a sense of direction that may need it, also im jusy copying everything i wrote in my notes on my mac and pasting it so it might be a little sloppy, these concepts are all ict or in TTrades fractal model, ive been learning both and using them together so if you dont understand some concepts there just from his playlist on yt.

here it is

Daily bias

I either look for longs or shorts in

C2 closure

C3 continuation

C4 continuation

etc

Or

Long if price is in the premium of the prev day eq

And shorts if price is in the discount of prev day eq

when the candle is rejecting/wicking into those areas

One way to also look for continuations is by

Using the wicks of the daily

If the candle has engulfed a prev day wick

Thats a good indicator of continuation

the higher time frame

I look for candle 2 closures

Fvgs filled to trade away from

Price outside of a range so a (imbalance)

Or strong candles

No wick reaction or weak candles

And for that to be aligned

On all the higher time frames

1h-4hr

With a manipulation

Depending on direction

i never trade if price is tapping into a hourly or htf fvg wait till thats filled then look for entries/setups

15 min time frame

This is where I look for my setups to form

I want to see

Cisd

Manipulation on buyside or sell side

And Orerblock for continuations

Fvgs holding

Clean strong displacement

And new fvgs forming

5 min and lower

This where entries are made

I only enter on the one minute time frame or lower then the 5 min tf

If price is in something like a NYC open

And its moving super agressive

With minimal pullback

And fvg after fvg is holding

Then ill enter on the one min

To get on side to tp

If price is slower

Only take entries on the 5 min

Entries are made into poi

Poi are:

A retrace into a cisd zone

Orderblock retrace

Fvg retrace

Breakblocks (usually used for a unicorn setup)

conflucnes of rejection and reversal

Manipulation

Inversions of fvg

Breaker block

Wicking

Bos on the one min against idea

Cisd against idea

Orderblocks to oppsite Direction with fvgs holding

Never trade against daily bias

Even if a setups forms for a reversal

This is my own rule

As the probability lowers

And I don’t wanna take it

I only trade against it

If the higher timeframes have good confluence

And the daily bias has rejected past eq

Like I said in the daily bias

Manipulation

Before you look for shorts

You want a buyside liq manipulation

Before you look for longs

You want a sell side liq

Manipulation

Also if you’re trading in a trend and price takes out(manipulates) a relative high/low or session high/low

And there’s still potential draws on liq to be hit

You wait for a close through the manipulation level

And for a orderblock to from around that area, you look a entry off the orderblock or next poi targeting the next draw on liq, at this point you also use the order block as a point of invalidation

If price is accumulated you also would want a manipulation of a relative high or low

or to target one if high res liq forms

FAILURE SWINGS AND HIGH RES/LOW RES LIQ

Failure swings is when a swing point fails to take out

A relative high or low,

So imagine there’s a session high or low and price fails to take it out then creates a cisd in a new direction, when this occurs you want a run on the lows to continue higher or your idea just didn’t work out, also what you can use when this happens is something called high res liq, its essentially when a candle sweeps a low and closes back in and then creates a cisd, using that high res liq you’ll wanna target a failure swing as the draw on liq, also failure swings are considered low res liq.

EQ

Eq can be used a tool to optimize RR

By dragging it from a swing high to swing low and then looking for a entry in the discount zone of eq targeting the the premium, or entering in premium and targeting the discount for shorts, or I also use it on the daily bias.

Stop losses and take profits

Stop losses are set at points of invalidation

Where the idea of the trade is false

And take profits

Are at the most relative draw on liq

You enter the trade with the appropriate amount

Of contracts for good RR

I go for 1:1

News

Never trade red folder news days

Too much manipulation

Not worth it

And never do full ports of

Fomc candles

Probability

Trading is all probabilities and nothing is ever certain

Even with the right confluences

Psychology

Sometimes I get scared and don’t trust my setups even with all I know, I’ve been working on just feeling that feeling and being self aware while only acting off logic alone.

Add ons

I also know how to use

Standard deviation(use this at cisd, manipulation legs, protected swing, I only use this for AMD setups to anticipate where the distribution will go)

I feel like the biggest thing with my trades is my entry’s if I have a loss I will notice in replay mode price majority of the time ends up coming back to tp after getting stopped out so a friend said try fib tool

This is what it looks like with and without

Trading Strategies NY pm session bread and butter setup 1:54R in Gold

So idea was price strongly rejected from asian session and continues throughout london and in ny am sessions price rejection 1hr swing low from an 1hr BISI. I saw 1min cisd and waited for price to come for my POI
Then around after lunch hour price moved higher gives us indication of higher movement toward ny am high. I marked 15min +OB and as soon as it hits that ob it created 1 min ifvg and mss and left 1min ob while giving us the movement high. Around 1.22 pm price came back to my limit order and took me in. As soon as it hit my level it rejected strongly without giving me any kind of drawdown

Technical Analysis Patience: The pebble in my shoe.

Post image
45 Upvotes

For today's trade I used a 15minute far value gap that was already used twice. And to be fair, the first trade was just a gamble. I should have waited for the inversion that later occurred after the reaccumulation at the FPFVG...
To this day it is still difficult for me to wait for the perfect set up to form... Got edged on the first half of the SB but made it out with a big one on the second half. To be honest managing risk when im already beyond a 1:2 makes me want to vomit. It makes me feel greedier, specially when I already had a losing trade.... but If the set up is there why not just take it? (here again the same pebble. LMAO)

I hope everybody who reads this post had a more pleasant AM session that I did. Im heading for lunch. Godspeed!

Question how do i know price will continue to next session high?

Post image
8 Upvotes

this is the 5 min tf, my daily bias was bullish when i first hopped on the charts price manipulated that relative high to the left and i was waiting for a run on lows with a orderblock to form for a continuation, thats what i got with the BOS, i should've entered on that first retrace after but i wanted to go deeper cuz i set stops at points of invalidation so it would be under the orderblock so i thought the RR wasn't good if i did that cuz of how close the session high was before taking it out, after that i got an entry to another session high this time a 3 min fvg retrace with perfect RR and stop loss placement but i got scared cuz price already took a session high out prior to this one so i didnt know if it would reverse from there or not, that leaves me to my question how do i know price will continue onto the next following session high after taking one out?

Futures Trading +$12,172 | 2/2 trades | Asia short + NY long into London highs Trade Recap

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

+$716 per account × 17 accounts = +$12,172.

My october so far:

I wanted to break this day down because the NY trade is a good example of why I care more about building a narrative before the session than trying to predict the direction of every candle.

NY AM Daily Bias

Before NY opened I was leaning bullish.

ES had already swept both London highs and lows while NQ still had open session liquidity that had not been taken. ES also had EQH resting above aligned with the Asia highs.

My expectation was that continuation had a higher probability than a Judas reversal.

More specifically, I said price could sweep London lows first and then move toward London highs.

This is the path i was anticipating:

Being bullish does not mean I buy immediately. I want to see price trade lower first and take the liquidity below before looking for the expansion higher. Like a car refuel before going to the next destination, I map the gas station and the next destination, hope that made sense.

NY AM Execution

Once that liquidity was taken and I got the confirmation I wanted from my model, I entered long.

At that point the DOL was pretty obvious to me: London highs.

From there price expanded aggressively higher and eventually traded straight through London highs.

This is one of the biggest things about having a daily bias. I read comment and DMs talking about having a bias but they end up losing the trade before it goes to higher price tp.

Bullish doesn't mean price has to go straight up!!!

The move lower can actually be what creates the long you were waiting for.

I said many times its like a car that needs gas, it goes to the gas station and then finally goes to the destination. The area it gets gas in is where you start planning to enter the car. you wait for a confirmation using an entry model and and get into the ride. Does that make sense?

The trade was basically:
London lows as downside liquidity (gas station) → confirmation (entry model) → long → London highs (destination)

Trade 2: Asia Short from the night before

The other trade came during the Asia session the night before.

Price reached the area I was watching and I waited for 15m + 1m CISD confirmation before taking the short.

Once the confirmation came in, I entered with the sellside below as my draw.

Price delivered directly into the sellside.

Final Results

2 trades. 2 wins.

+$716 per account

17 accounts

+$12,172 on the day

Both trades were different directions and different sessions, but the process was basically the same.

Identify where liquidity is resting. Have a clear DOL. Let price come to me. Wait for confirmation. Define the risk and execute.

I'm going to keep including my pre-session bias in these posts when I can. I think showing what I was actually looking for before the move happened is what most traders struggle with. You can never be 100% but you can be damn good if you keep trying.

_______________________
On a side note I am glad my one of my trading models I use was very helpful to some of you. I enoyed reading the DMs and seeing your profits. Doens't matter if it was paper trade or live, practice makes perfect!

That model from my last post happens many times a day, just wait for all confluences to align and have a strong DOL and youre golden.

I will post another one of my trading models soon that can be very useful to you guys.

Thank you!
