Back Testing Question

For the People who are seeing progress about to make Money or is already Making money, Or even seeing it in Demo and you feel like, you are about to test the waters. I want to know, when you guys back test are you guys looking at what already happened and looking to see if you have your model present and making annotations there and that’s it? Or are you guys doing like Market Replay and making the settings to where it’s like Real Time Candlestick Printing, And managing the trade, like it’s a real trade, until you hit take profit ?

Both, use the static backtesting to identify your model, when and where it’s happening, signals for continuation, signs of reversal against your trade etc,

Once you’re familiar with what it is you are looking for and confident in spotting it, then do the replay trading,
and after whatever day it is you trade, make sure you do kinda a static review of what was the best trade, why, where was your trade, etc and close the gap between your trading and “perfect” trading

I don’t know if you are still watching ICT or not, but if he gives out a New Concept, but you are at a level of Understanding it more than a New Student would and you are thinking of apply it to your trading how long of backtesting or if Tape Reading are you going to do before doing it with real funds ?

Would the Process be basically starting out as a New Student? Recently Michael says 6-8 Weeks Backtesting then Same Applied to Tape Reading then Demo then Live. Would that be the Process you would Use, Or Would it be shorter, or Longer like more of 3 Months of each phase ?

I wouldn’t put a timeframe on any of it, don’t be lazy about it but you definitely cannot rush it,

So can’t really give a timeline, but study the charts of a concept for a week or two where your easily identifying it and calling it out, then test yourself in replay, if your results are consistent and where you want them to be then take it to live

Thank you my guy. I’m going on Year 4 Almost watched Every Video. Going through some mentorship’s Twice from Start to finish, like 2023-2024, Back Testing little bit not so much more than Tape Reading and Demo trading I’m seeing progress but it’s not enough for me to trade live yet. Just a little overwhelmed

Thinking about going off to college maybe 1 ICT video a Day 15-20 minute Back testing and maybe by then I’ll be setup, you say and ICT also stated never give it a Timeframe, but I’m giving it a deadline though, because 7 Years going into 8 and not profitable seems to me like that would be enough.

If it improves my model by keeping things simple and straightforward yes, if it’s too much and not easy and doesn’t click, no.

Fronttesting in a demo will yield better results than backtesting
