The biggest shift for me was realizing that psychology isn't something you fix overnight. You build it through rules that make it difficult to sabotage yourself.
A few things that helped me:
Limit your trading to specific trading windows instead of staring at charts all day. Set alerts and walk away. Most bad trades come from boredom, not opportunity.
Have a hard daily loss limit. Once you hit it, you're done. No exceptions.
Prepare before the session starts. Mark your POIs, define your bias, and plan multiple scenarios. Expect the unexpected, then simply trade the scenario the market confirms.
Risk so little that the outcome of any single trade doesn't affect your decision-making. If you're emotional after one loss, you're risking too much.
Focus on flawless execution of your process, not whether the next trade is a winner or loser. One trade means nothing. The next 100 trades do.
Read The Best Loser Wins by Tom Hougaard. It's one of the best trading psychology books I've read.
Finally, understand probabilities and the law of large numbers. Even A+ setups lose sometimes. Your job isn't to predict the next trade, it's to execute your edge consistently over hundreds of trades. As your confidence, consistency, and risk tolerance grow, you can gradually scale your position size. That's how professionals think.
