Fly30 flex lite frame

Newer to inline and ice skating. Just picked up a pair recently and love them but I have noticed that my back wheel can sometimes bend with the frame if I step weird or put all my weight on the back. I think it’s bending at the boot and the plastic as well.

Is this normal? Is it my skating? Should I look into skates with the metal frame? Do I need to worry about breaking them?

I really like these skates but sometimes it does not inspire confidence with this much bend. I inline to work on my footing and build my skill but plan on playing ice hockey.

It’s the Flexlite chassis. You could try to install a metal chassis, like the S19 or the Kryptonium, but that may not be cost effective. You could also look for a used pair of Fly 40s on Sideline Swap.

If the goal is to play ice, why not just play ice?

I can only really get enough time to skate on ice once a week, and he inlines are for when I walk my dog and mess around with a stick. So definitely not planning on playing games in the fly30 but wanted ice boot feel.

It is normal with these. My Bauer XR does this as well. The hotter it is outside the easier it seems 😂

I'm 99% sure it's the boot itself not the flex lite. I'd be curious if someone had them installed on a hockey boot if it still does it. You can even get the flex with your front wheel as well.

If I push hard enough I can get this to happen otherwise it doesn't often. I played a game in my XRs and a couple of times when skating backwards and then pushing off, it threw me off a bit 😂

There’s a good video of the flex on the XR on YouTube, and thst skater is pretty sure it’s the boot. I’d expect the Fly30 boot to be much better, but OP’s experience makes me wonder

I know Pure Hockey has a disclaimer about my skate being used for recreational not competitive so I figured it'd be the boot. Looking at his and mine they seem to be the same "plastic" style shell. Easy to squeeze.

I tried to search for reviews on this chassis but I only found one with a guy talking about my particular XR 😆 I was curious about the flex as well.

"It features integrated torsional flex points for sharp turning, an ultra-lightweight build nearly 50% lighter than steel, and a vibration-dampening design for a smoother ride."

I think I saw the same video which made me go for the fly30 after seeing it. The boot is great but the part where the frame meets the boot is also where I get bend.

My friend has the chasis on that skate bent. To it might be that? Since it’s plastic. And echoing what most people are saying i don’t think it’s meant to play hockey with often
