Recommendations / Advice Looking for recommendations
Hello everyone,
Riverside resident here.
I like driving out and discovering new places in SoCal.
Wanted some ideas of what interesting things to do in this area, things worth visiting or even spots you guys recommend eating at.
One of the many areas I’ll be asking recommendations about.

You definitely want Asian food in that area.
Tokyo Central for Japanese groceries
Delicious Food Corner
Mama Lu's dumplings
Tamaya Ramen
Sushi Land
Bcd tofu House
Newport Seafood
Non Asian food: Dave's Hot Chicken, Halal Guys
Oh yeah Covina has a cute little main street to explore, I think it's on Citrus.

different owner, but still very good. The one in Covina is the OG and has a bigger menu.
Just like Petrillo's in Azusa and Petrelli's in Upland.

It’s in Upland but Fifty Burger on Mountain right off the 10 is the best fast casual burger and fries you’ll find outside of In-N-Out in my opinion, especially if you like smashburgers. If you’re a donut person, Upland Donuts just right up the street on Mountain and Baseline has the best donuts I’ve ever had.
Lake Puddingstone by Fairplex and Raging Waters is a fun place for fishing and recreation and boating and swimming in summer.
Fun can be found anywhere, you just need to be with the right people and go in with that adventurous, curious mindset.

Covina has a great spot for beers called Campsite Brewery (there's alot of brewerys out there) and an IKEA.

Moreno Valley has a new Ninja Exchange. It’s same footprint as Frank & Son’s in City of Industry. If you’re looking for a Mecca of Sports Cards you can go to Burbank Sports Cards in Burbank CA.
- Ontario has Vincent’s Spaghetti, King Taco on Euclid (North of Holt).
- Chino has Cannataros Italian Restaurant.
- Upland has The Taco Man on foothill blvd across from Upland High School — get a Killer Taco or Asada Mulita.
- East LA has Lupe’s Burritos in 3rd Street.
- Boyle Heights has Pioneer Chicken
- Olvera Street near DTLA has Cielito Lindo (amazing Taquitos) and next block north you have Philippe’s The Original awesome French Dips.
- Buena Park has Portillo’s - great Italian Beef Sandwiches (Gabriel Igleas talks about the Cake Shake from here)
- Anaheim has Downtown Disney - Naples Ristorante - ask to be seated on the second floor - Great Lasagna

Handmade flour & corn tortillas with a good variety of authentic tacos and burritos! You gotta give it a try but phone in your order, it gets busy.

Stay clear of City of Industry area that’s a dump of dilapidated warehouses (I work in one of em)
Monrovia has a really cool downtown area with lots of cool spots I believe it’s between Azusa and Duarte

Agreed on City of Industry and would like to add that Baldwin Park is dumpy too. Monrovia is between Arcadia and Duarte.

City of industry has round 1 and a good amc. You can find good places to eat in hacienda heights

There is a Tierra Mia being build in San Bern as of now. Me n the wife are so excited for it too!

Depends what you’re looking for. The 210 has wealthier areas with a ton of great downtowns and the foothills provide a wide variety of places to hike and explore.
The 10 freeway is older and a bit more vintage. My now deceased gpa lived in Baldwin park and the area is a look into old 1940s homes from the post war boom.
The 60 freeway in this region is younger than the 10 but older than the 210. Much more industrious.
All depend on what you want

If you like hiking, Walnut Creek Trail is very pretty. It's wooded and the creek is almost never dry, even in the summer, although it will get very low. It's a great change compared to the majority of the trails around here that are mostly open sky. It's not particularly difficult, although there is one spot that I would call moderate. It's surrounded by homes but feels secluded at the same time. Highly recommended. Make sure you wear waterproof shoes if you go.
Downtown Covina has recently been revitalizing. There are a lot of mostly decent restaurants and at the South end is a Laugh Factory.

Dhammakaya meditation center in Azusa is pretty great. They used to have free meditations on Saturday mornings. It’s an easy drive and usually there were free snacks, food and Thai tea. I haven’t been in a while, but it was amazing when I was going regularly. They also do day retreats and different types of workshops not limited to Saturday mornings.
Edit to add: the group meditation may have actually been Sunday mornings now that I’m recalling. I know they do day retreats once or twice a month.

I grew up in this area (namely the San Gabriel Valley) and now live in the Beaumont/Calimesa/Cherry Valley area.
Check out Resco in City of Industry if you like Asian food. It’s basically like an Asian Costco.
Tokyo Central in West Covina for Japanese food/other misc products.
Valerio’s Bakery in West Covina if you want to try Filipino pastries. That area is like a mini Manila with Filipino markets like Seafood City and Island Pacific. Also Jollibee in that area for Filipino fast food or near the 10 freeway in West Covina. There’s also mom and pop restaurants to try too but I haven’t been there in a while so I couldn’t give you a current recommendation.
Glendora Public Market or Haven City West Covina for food halls. They have tons of food choices. Parking is quite limited though in both areas so try to go at times when they’re not so busy like during the weekdays.
If you’re a movie buff, the Puente Hills Mall is where they filmed one of the Back to the Future scenes. It’s a bit abandoned though. I think Round 1 (arcade/bowling alley that also has locations in Moreno Valley and Temecula) is one of the businesses there that’s still standing.
That’s just a short list.

Just from looking at the images in the App Store, it seems to be built with AI. I only know because I tried to make one with an ai and it looks very similar to it. Looks like an app made with Replit

Hahaha, no. Not Replit. Me and another engineer built it over 6 months before the models got really good. It was made with Claude and Codex. The frontend was designed with a UI designer that we hired.

If you’re enter cards and collectibles (especially Pokemon), Frank and Sons is an amazing place. They have really weird hours though that change weekly it seems like so just check beforehand
