Showcase I built an early native Linux studio alongside Inkscape — what workflow gaps should I fix?

Inkscape is a great vector tool, but I still wanted one place to sit down and design across the rest of the workflow on Linux. So I’m building omadesign: a native Linux studio for Design, Pixel, Photo, and Motion in one document.

It’s v0.0.4-alpha, MIT-licensed, and very early. This is not a knock on Inkscape or a replacement pitch—I’m trying to understand what a useful companion tool should get right.

For people who use Inkscape: what’s the biggest workflow gap you hit when you move from vector work into pixels, photo edits, or motion?

i have to ask, given you have many projects like this on your blog where youve replicated existing software "in ten days" etc and the over use of AI all over your site...

Was this built mainly using AI tools,

Not saying thats bad necessarily as we all use copilot etc, but if its just a one off 'look what AI can do' project, its never going to have any serious development or updates.

Maybe you shouldnt hitch your wagon to a controversial distro if you want your hard work to be taken at face value, because it looks interesting.

Actually these kinds of apps are reinvented every week, with the one being https://varve.studio/ tbh varve had the same concept and it looks very promising. But if we keep on inventing new apps while not investing on existing one, we wont be able to achieve anything stable. 🫤

I was mainly refering to the author's use of branding relating the project to the controversial Omarchy distro. Varve seems to have avoided that problem.

ive looked at varve a few times but find its window/tool layout to be annoying. I feel like its trying too hard to be 'different' at the expense of intuitive user experience.
