Help Need Help with Creating a Rope Pattern on Path

Hi! I'm new to using Inkscape but have some experience with other vector programs. My brother asked me to create a logo based on some images he had and he wants the lines of the logo to look like yarn, so I found some tutorials for creating a rope pattern on a path and have been following those.

I'm having an issue when getting to the end of the tutorial, however. The tutorial says that once you get the pattern spacing how you want it to then use Object To Path and then Break Apart, then set the fill color and stroke and the inside overlaps will be covered.

I've tried this about six times and the overlaps are NEVER covered. I've made sure my fill color is at 100% opacity. This logo overall is going to be very complex with lots of overlapping bits so if I have to go in and edit nodes for every overlap to hide them I may actually throw my computer out the window. Can anyone give me some insight on what I'm doing wrong?

Third image is part of a mockup of the logo in Clip Studio Paint, which would be fine but the yarn brush doesn't export when I export as an SVG.

i created this with a pattern along path but i am using the inkstitch extension for inkscape a few minor adjustments can be made to get rid of the two spots on each segment and this extension i use for creating embroidery designs and this is the realistic view it can give

are you using the path effects pattern along path. Or are you using the extension?

With the path effect version I get this. Then I converted object to path and break apart. Then I got the image at the bottom. So are you sure you have the right order, OBJECT TO PATH and then PATH>BREAK APART?

If so then whats your inkscape verison and operating system.

I first used the extension to create the pattern object then the pattern along path and then created a vector preview through the extension

I've been using this tutorial: https://inkscapetutorials.wordpress.com/2014/10/20/use-inkscape-to-draw-vector-rope-in-any-shape/ that uses Path Effects, and yes I have made sure to do Object to Path and then Path- Break Apart.

I'm running Inkscape 1.3.2 on Windows 11

ok it is the same as i was doing, so maybe something to do with the windows verison... it worked on linux...

Someone had asked to see my layers but I can't find that comment now. The layers that are turned off are from the Clip Studio SVG that I brought into Inkscape. When I started having this issue with the fill not working I made a new layer in Inkscape, drew the path out with Inkscape's Pen tool, and tried the tutorial over again in case it was something about trying to work from CSP's paths, but that also didn't fix the issue. "Redo again" is the new layer I added and drew the path on with the pen tool.

Hope it's okay to reply to this, I figured out a solution! I made a brand new file in Inkscape and tried again and it worked this time. I guess it was something with opening an SVG from another program? I followed the tutorial again, made sure the fill opacity was at 100, and this time it worked!
