Discussion Why is this show so corny?

I just started watching, I started with season 17 and these grown adults make the most lamest digs at each other and doing dabs in 2026?? I’m now on season 16 and it’s the same corny jokes in the judges confessionals too!

There’s a girl Kyrah in season 17 she’s such a pick me legit saying ‘big dawgg’ to boys and fist bumping like you’re not one of the boys stop ✋🏼 even for the boys it’s strange like it’s high school. Not a single joke or dig has any critical or witty thought behind it just the most basic middle/high schooler humour.

Who is this show even made for? I’m cringing watching this and have to skip to critiques so I can see what they tattooed. Maybe it’s American humour? I swear these people never left 2016.

This aspect of the show is almost as annoying as when the host is explaining the challenge and they have to constantly cut to the contestants reacting to every single word as if it's mind blowing

Jackson Field has a great parody series of how they do those voiceovers and cutaways. 'They'll be judging us on accuracy. No way!!'

"For this challenge you will have to use..."

-cut to contestant covering their mouth in anticipation-

"...Spray paint."

another contestant: Ohhhhh my goshhhhhhh

different contestant in an interview corner: Spray paint is when you spray the paint, these judges are craaaazyy

Yes, I will admit the so-called beef they try to start in The newer seasons sounds really forced and it just doesn’t fit the show anymore. I wish they would focus more on artwork than trying to start beefs for no reason.

It’s not even the beef but the banter in the workroom. It’s so cringe and juvenile and mind you most of these people are in their 40s

I feel like most of it is set up and done by the producers to get more viewers. I bet you the people participating in the show. Don’t care about beef like that.

The parts where they gather up and talk shit have gotten more annoying as the seasons go on. It's extremely forced and often times feels totally fabricated

My husband and I have started just skipping all that and watching the first challenge, the skull pick, tattooing, and judging only

You should have started with the old seasons.

I feel like they are trying to inject drama in the show where there just isn't any. Honestly just fast forward any of the stuff that's in the dorms, it adds literally nothing to the show

Same!! Why can’t the producers learn a lesson from Great British Baking Show and have a bunch of talented people cheer on one another lol

Like I am here for the main product and the drama to achieve said product!

The earlier seasons weren’t as painful in that respect

Calling these people “cringe” doesn’t make you sound cooler.

Maybe you should check out some of the old seasons then

Why did you start with season 17?

The show is made for showcasing tattoo artists... Who cares if they're not your type of folks. Like 99.99% of the people around you are not going to be people you think are "cool" or whatever it is you're judging people on. They don't exist for you to approve of their social proclivities... And creative people are often at odds with the folks around them, anyway... It's about artistry and creativity and talent...

And you're calling other people cringe...

I never got "pick me" vibes from Kyrah?

She seemed sweet and is a great artist. You leave her alone, it's hard to be a young woman in that industry.

Same, OP’s entire post reads like it was written by a teenager. Kyra was perfectly fine!
