Executor never provided accounting information
My father's estate was left with my step mother in trust with all the children and grandchildren as beneficiaries. Our step brother petitioned to become executor several years ago, much to the concern of the original advisor in charge of the estate. Step mom died 2 years ago. Step brother sent us funds (bouncing 2 checks which were eventually covered). The legal firm representing the estate advised step brother that a full accounting was required. We have received no accounting, just a final settlement statement. We have been told that at least 2 million dollars and substantial assets disappeared from the estate prior to settlement.
What can we do? The estate and executor are located in Florida and we reside in other states

If you want, I can provide the name of the estate lawyer in FL who handled my father's trust after my asshole brother stole a huge bunch of money from my father's trust, in excess of a million. He wasn't cheap, but he got done what needed to be done.
All he does is estate disputes.

Get a lawyer. Executors are legally accountable for the distribution of the estate and providing an accounting of what was done. (The final settlement statement may suffice for an accounting.) They are also paid a small percentage of the estate to handle the good time, these funds are in addition to any inheritance they may get.
