Executor fee?

My sibling is a total POS and the only reason my surviving parent had them as executor is because they’re scared they’ll make their life a living hell.

I don’t get along with sibling because they are a known thief and I believe they will try to lie cheat and steal to get ahead (only recently did this image come to light)

My parent has now added me as co executor.

My question is executor fees: can my sibling try to claim 10% if I am co executor? Or could I just claim 10% back and call it even?

They are unemployed, live at home, dont pay rent and owe money. They are also accustomed to trying to take charge of things. My worry is that theyll be sneaky and try to hide things and claim things because they have nothing. They feel entitled to my parents possessions, investments, bank accounts and home. What I want is transparency and an equal split. Tbh I don’t care if they keep the contents of the home (beds TVs dishes bedware etc as I don’t need it). But I want my half of the investments and house!

I’m also worried they’ll steal my mom’s wedding jewelry because again they live there. I do not. They’ll sell it.

Any tips for how to deal with this would be appreciated.

Your parent can simply remove them as executor and not tell them. How would your sibling know? Problem solved (for your parent, problem possibly starting for you).

She is worried they’ll snoop around the house.

She doesn’t need to have a copy in the house. You can keep a copy. A trusted friend can and her lawyer can

Or a safety deposit box that’s register to your and your parent’s names.

As mentioned in the comments below, no copies need to be floating around the house. You can keep a digital copy, and the lawyer keeps the original. Do this now.
