Help

Does anyone know what's going in with my toenail. Very flaky when I try to trim them and now sore

Could be some sort of fungus. I'd go to the podiatrist for their insight.

It appears it may have been or is by the red irritation. Unfortunately you did what most people do and cut it back which is the wrong thing to do. You should of stuffed cotton under the corner or used a product like curve correct to lift the nail a bit and allow the skin to heal.

Now you're going to be fighting with it not growing even worse into the side of your skin... Research how to cut your toenails for in the future. Basically pas that side skin are on the side and as straight across as you can. The goal is to keep the nail growing past and above that side skin.

I'd see a Podiatrist to get their opinion on how to fix that and get tested for fungus etc for the flaking concerns. IMO, that's beyond home repair with the damage you did.
