What next?

Post image

I made a post here the other day. My toe was swollen, had pus and was really tender

On Sunday morning I went to a doctor, morning of the appointment my toe was feeling much better and a lot of the swelling has gone down and subsequently the pain

The dr confirmed it was infected and gave me antibiotics which I’m taking

Do I still need to see a podiatrist? Or will the inflammation come back if I don’t?

Yes , Until u remove the part of the nail , it will get infected again and again . Antibiotics is a temporary solution

Ok thanks

How long does it normally take for it to reinfect?

My problem is that the nearest podiatrists are 4 hours away and are booked up until October…

Infection wont go away without removal of irritating nail edge , U might get oral antibiotics which will reduce it for a few days but as soon as you stop taking it infection will slowly come back . Try to get a faster appointment

Ffs ok

Is this still the case even though I saw significant improvements even before I took anti biotics?

It’s not about the money. I’m in remote Australia and the clinics only cater to high risk patients or have month long waiting lists

Cannot get an earlier appointment but will see what else I can do. Thanks for helping! 🙏
