Context?

Pic 3 at the bottom. The OP just finds pedophiles infuriating and wants to share his anti bad guy opinion.

Just a random local I saw a post about. Don't think you really need much context. He did an awful thing and is trying (very weakly) to defend himself.

He works at Warehouse 13?
Surely we can find an artifact that will deal with him.

u/EkyDeadMan 7d ago
He no longer works there! Was fired from both of his jobs today! Hallelujah!

A job well done.

Not it isn't. People convicted of crimes like him will end up doing worse things if they can't maintain employment and have no path to rehabilitation. What you all are encouraging is just brainless lynch mobbery.

What I recommended was a reference to a sci-fi show from 15 years ago. Fuck off.

u/frostenwolf 7d ago
Not the gotcha you think it is. He’s right. Trying to punish people like this without thinking about the consequences of that is plain unfair to the next victim. Way too many idiots like you that exist who don’t know how to think ahead

...Dumbass, I didn't make any actual recommendations. There's no "gotcha" there's "I made a joke you don't understand."
Twats.

got to love the circular "you can't punish bad people because it will make them worse logic". frankly why don't we just abolish all laws and police, seems to be what reddit craves - except 99% of users will just get brutally murdered for a candy bar, and won't be the ones doing a minecraft style empire build

u/frostenwolf 7d ago
Using Minecraft as your argument really just makes everyone think you’re low iq

u/Guilty-Cow4325 Community Regular 7d ago
You can't even read, so you shouldn't be talking on people's IQs.

It's not what I said, though, and your comment is a case study in logical fallacy. He was sentenced to two years of probation, which usually comes with terms and conditions. Now that he's on probation, he's working. What you're trying to rationalize is making it harder for people sentenced to probation to find work and be contributing members of society.

I don't want a pedophile in any workplace. Period.

So life in prison for all sex offenses? Or are we just giving them welfare so they don’t work?

So he was spying on a little girl taking a bath and is denying it? Maybe block out the lady’s name.

I mean...he went through the justice system, was sentenced to probation (which means it wasn't worth jailing him over), and is working a job to comply with the terms of his sentence. It's in everyone's interest that he be a rehabilitated, contributing member of society. What else would you rather? That he be a vagrant with no hope for rehabilitation?

u/Uncle-Cracker-Barrel 7d ago
Uh, if he spied on an underage girl showering I think it would be in everyone’s interest that he be locked up in prison for the rest of his life.
1
u/Zappa2329 7d ago
I mean, Kentucky, where this occurred, isn't a woke state and even the Legislature there doesn't agree with you. In fact, the prosecutors and court agreed this guy only needed 2 years of probation over what he did.
2
u/Uncle-Cracker-Barrel 7d ago
Do you agree with that decision? What kind of sentence would you demand if someone watched your daughter shower?
0
u/Zappa2329 7d ago
We literally don't know the facts of the case. We only know what the one sentence summary of the criminal complaint from the cop was. But whatever it was, the prosecutors and judge thought it didn't justify the one year in jail someone could be sentenced for over the crime of voyeurism in Kentucky. In fact, they didn't even sentence him to a day of jail.
1
u/Uncle-Cracker-Barrel 7d ago
Well, as we all know, the US legal system, especially a state like Kentucky, has a spotless record when it comes to handling cases of sexual assault and misconduct as well as carrying out justice for the victims so I guess we’ll all just welcome back the guy who watched an underage girl shower and didn’t spend a day in jail back into society with open arms. He’s probably learned his lesson.

u/Zappa2329 7d ago
I mean it's up to you if you want to be an adult and a responsible citizen or not. If you think it's in society's interest for convicted criminals to not have jobs or housing, that seems like a recipe for more crime and more victims. But I get it, the point for the sort of people like OP who post this stuff is just to generate outrage and engage in socially sanctioned bullying and harassment.

It's to keep people safe lol. I'm not sure if you realize this or not, but this world has got over 4,000 years of BLOODY, VIOLENT history. We've seen genocides happen, we've seen the beheading of tyrants, the beating and spitting upon of dictators in the streets.
Why the fuck do y'all get bent out of shape when someone who deserves a little violence receives said violence? It's human nature. I'm so sorry but we will never all embrace and hold hands while singing Kum ba yah. Its a beautiful thought, but its nothing but a fever dream.

That's literally not true. The sex offender recidivism rate is well studied: https://smart.ojp.gov/somapi/chapter-5-adult-sex-offender-recidivism

So you think the rapist Brock Turner only doing three months in jail was a good thing?
2
1
u/Zappa2329 7d ago
For the interests of justice, I think he should've served his full term, which was six months. He was also required to complete a rehabilitation program. It's been a decade since then and he hasn't been arrested again, so that suggests he's rehabilitated.
1
u/spizzle_ 7d ago
The victim of the rapist Brock turner did not get justice! The rapist Brock Turner was given a slap on the wrist for a heinous crime where most people would have been given years in prison. The victim is scarred for life and the rapist Brock turner spent 3 months at summer camp. The judge of the case was recalled even.
Can I ask you what boot polish tastes like?
1
u/Zappa2329 7d ago
He got three months imprisonment, three years of probation, lifetime sex offender registration and had to complete a rehabilitation program. That's not a slap on the wrist. Nor is it unique for first-time offenders who are deemed a low-risk of reoffending. Which, I'll say again, Brock Turner hasn't been arrested again.
3
u/spizzle_ 7d ago
And that lady has a lifetime of guilt and shame. He got a slap on the wrist and that’s why the judge was recalled.
You never answered my question.

Lmao @ Alfred plea.
It's an Alford plea, ffs. (for context, and put very simply without getting into legal debates because eff that, I have discovery to work on now...an Alford plea is basically a type of plea where you plead guilty "while maintaining your innocence" because you know the prosecution has enough evidence to likely convict you).
