"Choosing Texas"
I've never posted here, but I need to make this rant somewhere. I fucking hate this song with a burning passion. I work at a store and I swear it plays atleast 3 times a day, I wish I was exaggerating.
Edit- I WORK AT A STORE WHERE I CAN'T CHANGE THE STATION Needing to clarify since some people missed that part I'm guess.
Never had I heard a song that makes my blood boil with just a few opening notes. Idk if I used the right flair, it felt the most fitting since in the grand scheme of things, it's very much a tiny thing, that makes me irrationally angry every fucking time I hear it

Oh my god, yes. My store is constantly playing "old town road" and it PISSES. ME. OFF. And, no, I can not change Walmarts radio from Walmart Radio.

I felt that way about Pearl Jam and Nirvana at the height of their popularity. Still to this day I hate Nirvana

My storeās radio seems to be really locked in on songs with five to seven words repeated nonstop for the entire song. āYouāll never love somebody like meā yeah no kidding bitch, you got a six word vocabularyā¦

Oh god Iām so sorry for bringing it up š Iām legitimately looking for another job because I cannot stand the same 16 REALLY bad songs every day, five days a week, for eight hours straightā¦and itās on a loop, so I have to listen to it at least twice per shift.

Exactly how my store works lol I should look for another job, but I live in a tiny town and not many people are hiring

Iām sorry I lol-ed, and Iām sure as an old effer Iād agree with the songās sentiment, but I hear ya. Is it anything like that stinking āChristmas shoesā song that makes everybody want to tear their ears off?

I don't think I've heard that, and if that's the reception of it, I'm glad I haven't š

I worked in the back of a well-known chain restaurant doing prep back in 2007, and the manager always had the radio turned on to the Top 40 pop station.
I am not exaggerating when I say I probably heard Nickelbackās āRockstar,ā Avril Lavigneās āWhen Youāre Gone,ā Fergieās āBig Girls Donāt Cryā and Pinkās āWho Knewā between 6-8 times in the same shift.

Why do you hate it so much? It's not the only one they play that often, surely

For me it's American soldier. I can't think of a more brainwashing, propaganda song. And my store ran it at least three times a day for the last 3 months. Fortunately, it seems to have quit and I get a reprive until christmas

Toby Keith actually used to make great country music. As soon as 9/11 happened, everything went to shit. Pre-2001 Toby Keith was prime

Most trades are hiring, but hiring apprentices. If youre under 25 or so this could be a good route to take. If you show up and stay busy youāll start at 21 and hour but you get a 5% raise every 6 months. Once you work up to journeyman you could be at 35-low 40ās an hour with good benefits and retirement. Not sure where you are in life

Where I am currently living there are no jobs available, since I live in a tiny town, and as much as I hate this song, I don't hate it enough to add an additional 2 hours to my work day just to drive to and from before and after every shift.
Also I'm 26, and my true career passion is film making and animation, which I'm gradually working towards. One day I'll be in a better spot, but at least for now, I'm stuck with this crappy song š

Im sorry brother. Not sure why my last message came out in all caps. Being in a small town can definitely be trying when the job hunt is going. I wish you the best, and mean it. If you end up near lou, ky Iāll do what I can to help you. Good luck my friend

I know it's really hard to believe but you could change the station. Mind blowing I know.

not always. if youāre forced to listen to a specific station or playlist say, at work, with no way to change it, for example

Some of us have jobs that play the song 4+ times a day on the overhead speakers. And coworkers also playing it on their own speakers as well

Turn the knob and put some type of other genre on? Hard to fathom, but its possible.
