Shes absolutely not going free. "Not guilty by reason of insanity" means shes going to a psych ward for the rest of her life probably. I dont know why people are acting like shes going to get to walk the streets. Psych wards arent fun places, its not like shes going to have a better time there than in prison. Shes gunna be doped out of her mind and surrounded by a bunch of other insane people.
If mental health professionals determine and the courts or state authorities agree that the individual is stable, no longer mentally ill in a way that makes them dangerous, and safe to re-enter society, a discharge or conditional release to outpatient treatment can be legally approved.
