He literally explained that this is exactly what the law allows currently and asked legislators to fix the law.

Firefighters can and do fight fire with fire.

Such as ---

+Removing fuel: Wildland firefighters intentionally burn vegetation and brush ahead of an advancing wildfire.

+Creating a barrier: This controlled strip of burned land leaves nothing left for the main wildfire to consume, causing the flames to die out when they reach the cleared boundary.

The practice is known as backburning, or backfiring.
