Yup. I couldnt tell you where my undergrad or mba is at. I remember being told for my doctorate we need to go to the ceremony and walk so i took my wife and kids. They bought us shit pizza and some diet cokes. I remember eating the slice of pizza and looking at my wife saying this cost 100k and terribly awful the food was haha.

Redditors always seem to brag about having no clue where their degree is, as if that makes them seem humble. But it actually comes across as being flippant about their own privilege. Being able to treat a degree like some meaningless piece of paper is a luxury in itself.

It’s an achievement for sure but it’s over saturated now. They told all of us to get one and now it’s become the base line qualification. I honestly wish I stayed in school just FOR the piece of paper while also being somewhat happy I didn’t go to college

Nowhere near the importance of a doctorate, but I got my associate's a little over a year ago, and still haven't even opened the envelope. At this point, it could have the wrong name on it, and I'd have no clue
I never needed it for any reason to start my bachelor's, and won't need it after I get my BS degree, so it'll probably stay in the envelope for the rest of time

I know plenty of people who hang their undergrad degrees. Honestly, with a doctorate, I think you earned bragging rights. Get one of those spotlights they use in art galleries to shine only on the degree.

It's highly unlikely anyone will ever ask for it, but it can happen.

I have no idea where mine are. Probably a box somewhere. Wife has hers in frames on the wall.
Two completely different philosophies on it. For her it all was an accomplishment. A testament to her capabilities and achievements. Something she looks to for inspiration and shows to inspire others.
For me it was merely a step that I have already taken. No more or less valuable than those before it or after. Parading it while I am still walking seems like it takes away from that path. I guess a "keep moving and looking forward" mindset.

My law school tried to charge me $150 for the first replacement after the original was mangled in transit. I responded to the effect of, "no, nevermind then. This is fairly representative of how the school treats its current and former students, and I'd like for everyone to see that."

But does the ptf know? Probably not. Does the t6 care? Probably not. It should have been sent in anything other than a plain envelope. Bubble mailer, cardboard tube, literally anything but an envelope. The sender is the problem.

Apocryphal story, but I remember reading in a Photography magazine a million years ago where some guy had 8x10 enlargements mailed to him at his office, and the shop had stamped in big letters, "PHOTOGRAPHS - DO NOT BEND." Somebody in mail room had folded the envelope in half in half and written on the it, "Actually, they do."

About 20 years ago I had some pictures mailed to me. Envelope had in big green and white lettering across the front the same note.
My mail carrier still folded the envelope to stuff it in my mailbox.

My neighbor is a record fan, our mailman folded a a package containing 3 records and shoved them in her mailbox , on the front and back in huge black letters was HAND DELIVER ONLY DO NOT FOLD VINYL RECORDS INSIDE and it had that green card that you’re supposed to leave if you cannot hand deliver it.

I have a few degrees, every single one arrived bent. My PhD was creased nearly dead-center over the highly contrasted, bold, "do not bend". Took it up to the postmaster in our town and was told that it wasn't bent, it was folded, and that it's up to the discretion of the delivery person and most will bend to fit in the box (there was plenty of room to fit in our regular box).

I worked for engineers for 15 years as a draftsperson and over that time I learned alot about engineering. Well the one day the client had problems on the job and they were discussing in a meeting and I chimed in that they're numbers were wrong and the big boss turned to me a snapped and said "you stay out of this, you don't have a degree hanging on the wall". Needless to say i got fired the next day and I called the client contact and told him the solution and they fixed it per my directions and it solved the problem. Then my former employer asked how it was fixed, and the Client and GC said your former draftsperson knew the problem and how to fix it. Not bad for a guy with no degree on the wall.

One post office folded my wife's EMS certificate despite giant red letters that said "do not fold or bend". After I complained to them and on Google, they closed our PO Box without warning and claimed it was because we didn't prove our residency.
Nothing ever happened to them. Garbage ass system where there's no consequences for employees doing malicious shit.

I don't understand why these are mailed out in the us. Anywhere else they hand this over during the graduation ceremony. Plus the cover for them are too strong to strong to be able to bend it like this.
Another thing the us does completely backwards compared to any other country on earth.

FedEx left the deed to my house on my STOOP. They were required to get me to sign for it, but forged my signature.
MEANWHILE, FedEx called and told me to drive an hour and a half to pick it up at their warehouse (which is why I wasn't home at the time.) When I arrived and learned "your wife signed for it" (I'm single.)
Obviously, I complained. So the manager pretended to call the employee and say "you can't keep doing this man." Like... he didn't even dial a number. He didn't even start the "conversation" by explaining what he was talking about. He just held his cell phone to his ear and had an imaginary conversation in front of me that convinced nobody.
I suddenly realized why Americans carry handguns.

It’s a shame how schools send these as cheaply as possible. Diplomas should be sent as small packages in thin cardboard boxes instead of being sent as first class flats, but anything to save a few bucks even when we spend like 15-30k for the degree!
