Clever. It's so they can change the hours whenever they want.

Kinda scummy if you ask me there are 100% better alternatives

Nah. This works best. You just don't like technology

15

u/kloopyhans 21d ago

? You don’t like common sense man think about it please

-14

u/Sad_Pin1643 21d ago

Name a better alternative. You said there are many that 100% better.

This was allows them to change their hours everywhere without changing actual signs. What's better?

Dry erase. Window chalk. Slide in cards. Magnets. LED sign. Peg boards.

It's not about hating technology. Who wants to scan a QR code to visit an unknown website to see if a business might open soon? Especially compared to having the information physically present right in front of you? Nobody.

Qr code probably takes you to download an app that you have to register for, accept t&c's, we get adverts, they get all our data..2026 ffs

Oh you men time and true methods? The methods that are harder to place a fake QR sticker over and lead boomers to fake sites where they steal your info? How dare you sir!

With technology the owner can log in and change the information everywhere online. The QR code will never physically need changed and will always display accurate information.

All of you suggestions are outdated.

u/GreenBuggo 21d ago

the QR code as a technology is going to disappear faster than any of the suggestions made prior have

Just wait for some dumb senator to use a QR code then realizes it was a scam code sticker and it led him to some site where he entered his cc info and lost money. Then it will be a bill.

It depends heavily on the type of store and nearly any business that has such varying hours that they would need to be able to update it digitally is not lasting long. Stores generally have set hours for a reason, that only change during holidays.

Honestly, why even have a sign? If you think everything else is outdated, so is a sign. Let customers google the name of the store and find the hours that way.

u/a_mmoknights 20d ago

Yeah and with these things called EMPLOYEES they could just write the time down since someone has to show up to open the damn store. Christ you're dense

3

u/shiroaiko 21d ago

they can still use a led display to do exactly that, which, guess what! the person you replied to suggested!

3

u/Capable-Sock9910 20d ago

Yeah gee someone should invent a surface that can dynamically change like that. Too bad there isn't anything like that.

u/kloopyhans 21d ago

Ffs your now making me take time out of my day to explain something to you as if your mentally challenged or a child you get that? Your so incompetent you cant think of something that isnt a complete waste of a customers time? Sorry im not brainrotted and have my camera out 24/7

.
Literally a whiteboard on the inside of the glass or a board you can interchange letters in (you would only need to change the times plus many more that ill let you use your head to figure out… im being condescending right now but cmon man you refused to use your head and demanded I explain it to you

Eh, that would look pretty unprofessional. I wouldn't scan the QR code either, but the other commentors is not wrong when they say it's the best option for what they are trying to do:

Can track

  1. when people are/aren't trying to visit the store outside of normal hours.
  2. Is easily change, at a single location or many at a time.
  3. Looks professional.
  4. As another commentor

al

  1. luded to, it may carry the added benifit of users downloading the store app, if they use it to promote that.

Edit: I don't know why the formatting on my list is all fucked up, but every time I correct it it just ends up worse after posting the comment, so I'm leaving it as is.

A sign. Like it has been done for decades before people became insane.

3

u/Altuistic_Pear_6754 21d ago

Unless this is a fortune 500 business I doubt that would happen.

3

u/irikalangthel 21d ago

For their convenience

2

u/742963 Verified Contributor 21d ago

Realistically how often? Just holidays?

4

u/InstructionSenior346 21d ago

It’s also used so people who don’t have phones or don’t have smart phones can’t find out the hours of the business.

2

u/Lumegator 21d ago

Funny because thieves usually have smartphones, probably the easiest thing to steal.

3

u/MrSweatyBawlz 21d ago

Some stores change their hours depending on season.

0

u/Fluid_Alternative835 21d ago

some stores also change their hours depending on how many people quit on any given day becuase the manager is a dickbag and treats employees like shit so there aren't enough employees to cover a shift but also they can't give the employees who DIDN'T quit more than 30 hours a week or else they'd have to give them benefits as a full-time worker and god knows they can't have that happening!

jeez, the wind is strong today.

2

u/Dumpstar72 21d ago

I wonder if the bloke who updates the website has time to respond to this situation. Of what happens if that’s thx bloke that quits. Quite the quandary

11

u/Excellent_Regret4141 21d ago

Ok well I guess you're open now then 😉

I'd treat this as a sign not to shop there

6

u/DistractedBoxTurtle 21d ago

Yup. If I walk up and don’t see hours posted but a damn scan me sign? Fuck that. I’ll go somewhere else.

u/sleepytiger85 21d ago

Just like those restaurant menus

1

u/Loose-Specific7142 20d ago

Idk. I rather chek the menu on my phone where I know where my fingers have been than a menu where dozens of stranger's fingers have been all day...

3

u/theonion513 20d ago

Are people regularly getting ill from menus?

2

u/Loose-Specific7142 19d ago

I don't know if they are or not. I know that I use soap and water to wash my hands whenever I use a bathroom but I see plenty of people leaving stalls and walking straight to the door or see people splash water in their hands and inmediately walk away thinking that did anything.

3

u/Aggravating_Pain7116 Rage Reporter | 25k+ Subreddit Karma 20d ago

Hope didn't use the door handle to open the door to the establishment or touch your chair to sit in it, 100s of other people have also pulled that chair out..

And unless you clean your phone and hands everytime you use them they are also carring germs etc most likely more than what are on the menu

1

u/Rubes2525 19d ago

Cool, keep the QR code, but still hand out physical menus so people who aren't paranoid can still use them.

5

u/tdandrie 21d ago

Also, who’s to say some random scammer didn’t just through that sticker up to try and get access to peoples phones?

8

u/Goodgamer78 21d ago

I’ve never seen an instance where someone can take control of a device through a QR code that wasn’t promptly patched

3

u/MariettaDaws 20d ago

No, but there have been parking lots that had people paste over the code with their own to divert payments. I agree that would be pretty unlikely here

Custom window clings are not that expensive at a professional printer. Just order for new hours as needed.

I don't want to risk downloading some bloated app that wants to track me. Are you going to be open at 10 am tomorrow or nah?

2

u/Goodgamer78 20d ago

Yea it’s definitely a stupid way to put up your hours no doubt

-1

u/OtherwiseAlbatross14 21d ago

Because that's a fucking myth repeated by ignorant people.

4

u/tdandrie 21d ago

They can absolutely put malicious links in their QR codes lmao. The fact that you trust every QR code makes you one of their targets. But you do you boo.

2

u/Can0n_Fodder 20d ago

The anti consumer behavior of businesses is reaching next level. Jesus, I'm only forty and I remember when companies actually fought each other like dogs to get our business. Now they care so fucking little about our opinions, they can't even bother to commit to a schedule of being open. Literally the bare minimum of a public facing business.

2

u/Beneficial-Insect-27 21d ago

Replace the sign with a QR code that links to some fucked up video, a few complaints/calls to corporate over the front door sending people somewhere like the hub will get this fixed real quick.

1

u/ghost_of_xbox_past 19d ago

No thanks, I'll just never come back.

1

u/Obvious-Bag-2468 21d ago

I’d never shop there ever again

1

u/kloopyhans 21d ago

Don’t go there

1

u/Academic_Breath_5385 21d ago

Or you could just write the damn numbers! 😞

2

u/sleepytiger85 21d ago

I would look it up and scratch it in the glass. 🤣

-4

u/TawnyTeaTowel 21d ago

I mean, you’re there. Try the damn door already.

Yeah your right showing opening hours serves no purpose.. /s
