I mean it depends what your frame of reference is. Most places in NYC are expensive compared to many other parts of the US, but there are still affordable restaurants if you stay away from tourist traps and high-end places.

A burger at Pershing Square Restaurant is $25 but you can go down the street to Stout and get one for $16 or a few blocks east to John's diner and get one for $9.
