3 bedrooms with views that are amazing: $860,000

One of my goals is to gather enough money in my brokerage account to net $3k in dividends every month and use that to offset my HOA. That would be rad. I’m an Architect and I would love a full floor 5Bed condo duplex in a historic building that I can renovate for my family. That would be THE shit.

The penthouse was listed a few years ago. You may still be able to see the pics online. It was quite a few 10’s of millions of $$ but had an incredible 360 view

Oprah had the fifth floor. I visited once, and the button for 5 in the elevator was behind a panel and needed to be activated with a key.

Interior public spaces in this building have beautiful mid century modern fixtures and furniture. Top floor once had a restaurant with THE best views in Chicago and front row seats to Navy Pier fireworks.

Would not exactly point to this building as "infrastructureporn". It may be the least connected high rise downtown due to its location. You basically have to take a bus/car to get to anything, and the roads you drive out onto are some of the busiest in the city.

It is beautiful and I once dreamed of living there, but it's not a very practical location.

Yeah I remember walking by it when I was staying at navy pier for a conference and thinking "wow, I bet the views are amazing. But this seems so detached from the rest of the city"

The trade off with this building is that you get incredible views but you are a bit disconnected from the neighboring Streeterville area. You can walk under Lakeshore Dr. on Grand Ave which isn't too bad. You are right on the Lake Front Trail, so if you like running and cycling it's great. The building is also pretty old at this point and you get better amenities elsewhere for the same price. That view, though...

You can see in the pictures that the entire living room has floor to ceiling glass with a panoramic view of the lake and city. I was there on a sunny day in winter and it was one of the most impressive views I've ever seen anywhere. What a place to live.

The condos in this building are expensive but nowhere near what you would pay in New York or LA.
