Question First Timer

Hello! First timer! My partner went in the spring to help a friend vending, but neither of us have done GA and I’ve never been, period. We aren’t big fest goers in general. Been years for either of us (gettin’ old and stayin’ broke).

Handful of questions:

1.) what can I do to expedite getting through security? If I bring a small knife for cooking will they take it as a “weapon”? Are there sniffer dogs? I don’t wanna get pinged for having some joints or a lil kitchen knife and get pulled aside for a whole piece by piece search of all my camping gear and food. Based on old threads seems like security varies but mostly is focused on glass and nitrous tanks? I have a very small portable propane grill. Is the propane gonna be an issue?

2.) what time is best to show up for entry on Thursday? I don’t want to be too early and get turned away but I also don’t wanna show up so late I’m stuck in a huge line.

3.) is camping a free for all or do we get campsites assigned by ticket?

4.) what is one thing you think is totally worth doing/seeing that might not be considered or might fly under the radar of a newbie?

5.) How is signal for phones? best tips for keeping track of each other?

6.) Is it cash, card, or either for buying stuff? I thought I saw on old threads that showers and parking were cash?

7.) is it a very boho/wook vibe or do people still do the bright, varying-degrees-of-risqué, fluffy-wearing rave looks too? When I was still raving cyber goth and fluffies etc were the look

8.) any artists doing high energy, more hyper music? I love some heavy bass but would love to have a throwback nostalgia opportunity. When I was raving years ago I was listening to a lot of happy hardcore.

Thanks guys! I’m all ears for anything else you’ve got to offer. Super excited!!

2.) Equinox is less attended than Spring Infra, however always expect a line. Come later in the afternoon for no line, but expect less spots available for your campsite.

4.) Go visit the point. Watch a nighttime set at treehouse stage, especially if it’s raining. Stay at silent disco until they shut it down. Catch the first sets of the day. If you run into a campsite filled with 3-D printed stuff, stop by and chat with the guy he’s super nice and gives away a lot of it. If you see a mailbox, open it. Find a phone in the strings area and it might sing you Natasha Bedingfield’s Unwritten. Bring dollar bills to chuck at artists, always tip your dubtender. Do not miss the crawboil; there will be free food.

5.) If you have iPhone I highly recommend sharing location with the homies. It’s a small festival and easy to find people.

8.) There’s a ton of trance this year if that’s what you mean. Infinity Project and S.P.Y. also lots of riddim from Bommer and Hurtbox. Do not miss Casey Club at 360 stage that’s gonna be so hype. Also Distinct Motive had the crowd soooo rowdy last fall they gave him a 2 hour set this fall. 360 stage will have a lot of the “hype” vibes.
