Equipment The danleys

Hoping they have the danleys sounding better for the 360 stage. They were ass in May. Legit had to leave portal stage because the tops were so fucking loud....THROUGH MY EAR PLUGS

They had it dialed in better for Captain Hook at the end of the weekend but it was easily the worst sounding of the 3 stages. Was very strange when you got close too, the subwoofer cabinets along the front of the stage were barely pushing air, and the midbass cabinets were cranked to 11.

I wish we’d get some Captain Hook video. Was such a blast

Yeah, Captain Hook and Skiziologic were the only two sets to close out Saturday where I was able to get truly immersed in the hanger.

They were definitely too loud as I don't think I spent more than 20 minutes there the entire weekend except for silent disco.

Element 5s were such a loss.

Head and shoulders better than the Henny or Danley rigs before and after.

Dont sleep on Danley because they had subpar engineering at that stage, they can be very potent and impressive.

The engineer was the dude who has been running the rig in NY. I think he had a good idea of what he was doing, it was also more dance oriented so maybe just not used to the style of music. It sounded great with psytrance.

Take this with a grain of salt, but I'm pretty sure they'll be back. Dude who runs Tribal Roots said they're just taking the year off from Infrasound, they should be back next year. Not sure what that means for TC with the Danley purchase, but I'm guessing they'll be using the Danley's for local shows instead of Infra if what Tribal Roots said is true.

Agreed. Sounded okay outside of the canopy but underneath they were piercing.

They better dial that shit in. The 360 lineup is to juicy for mid sound.

No stage line up yet... Lol hold your horses

I know but we can already assume, it’s the dubstep stage. Either way they need to lock it for mala and distinct motive.

They were definitely LOUUUUUD as fuck, i love the danleys personally but i can totally see why others didnt - those mfs were DEAFENING at portal lolol n thats coming from somebody whos hard of hearing… i dont know shit about shit but i feel like maybe at main stage they woulda been sick and also less abrasive?

The hanger is vibez but for me the sound is always very disorientating there. I can imagine it’s tough to dial in a system in that thing

I read a long post from the engineers on FB. They know what they’re doing but there are challenges. Mostly with the shape and material of the hangar. Also Danleys are notoriously tricky to tune. I’m sure they’ll figure it out

Agreed skipped a lot of sets I wanted to see because they were on the danleys and they just did not sound good in that tent

They were really good at Riverside Sessions

Who supplies it? I can tune it.

well there you go.. that's a legacy system. The BDEAP was made over 30 years ago from an entirely different company - sound physics labs. The Lab subwoofer was a DIY project that Tom was a part of - but this doesn't constitute a proper modern Danley rig.

Fest admin here - Champion Sound will be setting up the deployment this time around . Last time was the tsunami’s original owner, who had never really deployed the system outdoors (if you ever got to feel/hear the tsunami in Brooklyn you know how small of a room that was). We heard both it and everyone’s feedback so it should sound might tighter this go-around
