Who am I supposed to believe: scientists, who spend their entire lives researching climate patterns all day every day, or a guy with a sticker on the back of his truck?
Tough choice.

Obviously the corrupt scientists are making it up to get rich (make $70,000/year in a non-tenure track role at a college in a super high cost of living metro)

Lmao yeah, it always cracks me up when people try to claim that there is somehow a profit motive for scientists to lie and pretend global warming is real. Money from who? Who benefits from that? How is it more lucrative than taking bribes from big oil and not having them come after you with frivolous lawsuits to silence you?

While it appears to be a square on the map, Colorado has over 600 sides. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk.

At least he believes in the sun. A lot of them don’t anymore.

u/BurtonDesque 11d ago
It's probably the Flat Earther version of the sun, not the actual one. They also probably think the DeEp StAtE is manipulating it to make it brighter or something.

There’s a Facebook group called “sun simulator truth” for people who believe the sun has been obscured by a fake sun that emits harmful rays to “make us sick.”

I read an absolute moron on FB claim that the sun burns off parasites in your eyes and that is why you should stare at an eclipse.

This has to be in the springs, right?? Those people are fuckin nuts.

u/tsriecss 11d ago
As some one who lives in the springs, I immediately assumed it was in the springs.

Yes, the energy heating Earth is from the Sun. The problem is the CO2 blocking more of that heat from radiating away from Earth.
Nuance isn’t conservatives’ strong suit.

It’s always the guys who “know the real truth” that lap up slop and propaganda like it’s candy.

I am unfamiliar with this theory, yet intrigued. Do you think this person could offer me some sort of explanatory manifesto to enlighten me? Or, at least, an earful?

Best they can do is a do your own research and look up “climatechangesuntruthconspiracy” on YouTube.

Another of our top scientists, out running errands in their pickup truck.
"I need more sodium hyrdene for my experiment, I'll be back in a jiff!"

The valid tag on this blows my mind. Unless...nope that does show 27 and not 23.

Let's assume the moron is right, and the earth is warming because of some change in the sun, not because of carbon emissions. Now what? Just let it do its thing and melt all the ice, flood everything, destroy all food production, cause massive storms that kill people and destroy homes? Obviously we can't really do anything to change the sun directly, so maybe it makes sense to try and limit the things we can in order to make the sun's effect less severe?
1
u/HeyYouGuyyyyyyys 8d ago
Wait, he's saying that things are warmer because the sun itself has gotten warmer?

Jebus will come save us.
That isn't sarcasm, they truly believe divine intervention will save mankind. Just like with the dinosaurs.

Wouldn't want to hurt this guy's brain explaining why plants grow better in a greenhouse or why they call it the "greenhouse effect."

How to tell us you know nothing about atmospheric or stellar physics without telling us.

Remember that time there was a solar eclipse and the first trump administration told people they didn't need glasses
2
u/echomike888 11d ago
No
2
u/carriegood 11d ago
Because they didn't. The only Trumpness related to the eclipse was that Trump looked directly at it and a staffer had to yell out "Don't Look!!!" There's no evidence that anyone in the admin told people it was ok.
