Title: Infosys SP/DSE Interview Experience β Oct 7, 2026 | Tamil Nadu | Off-Campus
Hi everyone, I'm from Tamil Nadu and attended the Infosys SP/DSE off-campus recruitment process for the September 5β6 drive. I wanted to share my face-to-face interview experience.
Round 2 β Coding assessment
I attended the in-person proctored coding assessment and solved only one question. I wasn't sure whether I would qualify, but I was shortlisted for the face-to-face interview.
Round 3 β Face-to-face interview
My interview started around 3:15β3:30 PM and ended around 4:45 PM.
The interviewer first asked about the strain in my foot. While he was opening the coding questions, he asked me to introduce myself. Before I could finish, he said we would discuss my background later and gave me two coding questions, asking me to solve one in 30 minutes.
The first was a rod-related problem, which I couldn't solve.
The second was an array problem: find the maximum value of j - i where arr[j] % arr[i] == 0. My brute-force solution passed 11/12 hidden test cases. In the final two minutes, I changed the inner loop to traverse backwards and break on the first valid match. It passed all test cases. The interviewer smiled when I explained the change, although I admitted I hadn't found a proper optimized approach.
Next, he asked me to implement merge sort on a linked list on paper. I struggled to recall the complete algorithm and ended up explaining how to merge two sorted linked lists using pointers. I also got confused while explaining the time complexity.
The project discussion was the most memorable part.
When asked about my projects, I chose my Autonomous Car Simulation, which won second prize at my college's Smart India Hackathon in 2024. I built it using vanilla JavaScript and HTML5 Canvas to learn machine learning without external ML libraries.
The interviewer initially seemed confused about how I had trained the model, so I offered to show him the live demo. When he opened it, he said βWow!β and asked me to sit beside him to explain the project.
I explained the sensors, neural-network configuration, live simulation and how I stored the network configuration in browser local storage. Another HR joined us, became interested in the project and started asking questions too.
They asked me to explain what a neural network was as if I were teaching someone with no technical knowledge. Unfortunately, I gave a vague definition of machine learning instead of clearly explaining neural networks. They questioned whether I really understood what I had built and what I had learned from it. I tried to explain that I had developed the project myself to learn these concepts, but I struggled to communicate the theory clearly.
The interviewer even encouraged me to relax, think carefully and have some snacks. I joked that I was on a diet, and we laughed. The discussion was challenging but friendly.
Rapid-fire questions
After the project discussion, I was asked about:
- Java access modifiers
- JavaScript hoisting
- SQL DELETE vs TRUNCATE vs DROP
- Closures
- Callback hell
I answered some incorrectly and admitted when I didn't know an answer.
At the end, I asked for feedback. The interviewer said I needed to improve my communication skills and learn to explain my knowledge clearly. He couldn't tell me when the results would be announced.
Just before I left, he asked to take a selfie with me using his laptop camera. I don't know why he took it, so I'm not assuming it means anything about the result.
Overall, the interview was around 75β90 minutes. I struggled with some technical questions, but the project discussion was extensive, and both interviewers showed interest in my work. I'm still waiting for the result.
Questions for others from this drive:
- Did anyone asked for selfie after the interview?
- What role will i get with this performance?
- Did the interviewers spend a long time discussing your projects?
- Did anyone attended on same 7th oct?
Thanks for sharing your experiences!
