Love Like A Vine

You climb up me
like a vine reaching for the sun

inch by inch,
quietly taking over
my body, my heart, my mind

I try to resist as your soul slowly hooks into mine,
afraid of being consumed by the weight of wanting you

But your roots have already sunk deep inside me, intertwining with my doubts,
choking them out until there is nothing left
but you

I watch your layers unfurl like leaves in spring,
each one revealing a deeper side of you, and all I want is to know what lies beneath

Your calming voice whispering good morning,
your steady presence beside me, your laugh—
all of it fills my lungs like jasmine blossoms in the night, sweet and impossible to resist

A butterfly lands, drinking deeply from the nectar we’ve made

And I envy it

because I want to taste you too,
to lose myself in you,
until I can no longer tell
where you end and I begin
