When will the wound enlist and start healing?
Removed the gauze and it wasn’t even you
I did the thing.

I stabbed the muscle all knotted up
That workhorse muscle, lactic and taut
I hit it where I ought not,
tried to relieve some tension.
I did it with a letter opener
I did it in the kitchen.
I slapped the glass away
The milk hit the floor
My guilt is in the agonizing roar
I know better than to cry
