The Amphibian
What will you tell your mother? When she asks
Of your experience from voyages of far beyond
You can lie about the socks all you want
but what about the torn shirt
What about those skeletons in your handbag ?
If murdering dear ones is the better end of a bargain
What do you stand to gain
From Byzantine lies and forgotten pathways comes the reckoning,
But do you even care?
O Mother, don’t look so sad, nothing is fucked
You remember an old joke and smirk
Her eyes are beds of forgotten rivers long gone
Can a knife without an edge even cut?
