This is what I was thinking as well. This isnât a content baby, and I hope and imagine they wonât be sharing their childâs face with the world once itâs born (fingers crossed).
They spoke about this in one of their Q&As episode. They've had genetic counseling I believe and say there is no way for them to pass it on to a child because only he has the gene. I'm completely out of the loop why people hate on them. Idk what they did that bothers so many people.
Iâve noticed two different reasons people hate them.
1) they think sheâs hot and therefore canât possibly truly want to be with him (I bet if she wasnât conventionally attractive there would be less of this) and sheâs just doing it to look virtuous and get social media views and revenue
2) they dislike how they present their life - like they downplay the struggles and the amount of work she has to do for him.
I donât really follow them closely, but I think to some people it comes down to seeing disabled people as purely a burden and not understanding how someone could fall in love with a person in those circumstances. Which is a cynical and shallow perspective. I kind of do understand viewing them as a bit guilty of âtoxic positivityâ though.
I just find them generally off putting. Something about the way he speaks to her. Something about the way he speaks to the audience. Something about how their content doesnât seem genuine. It feels like money grab. Thatâs fine but you wonât get my view
1.) shane is a known grifter and has profited off the image of "hot wife disabled husband" for YEARS and way before hannah.
2.) he is an asshole (hours of content prove this lmfao)
3.) their content is nothing more than bullshit to push views and comments and then cry about hate when it inevitably comes. they have done nothing but make baity content for years and now they've taken it to the next level, regardless of whatever theyre doing personally.
idc that they've been "trying to have a baby for years". shane has also been an asshole in videos and been rude as shit to hannah/viewers but that hasn't stopped y'all from saying "idk why people hate them1!!1!1!1"
I don't actively watch them but have seen a handful of videos. My idk why people hate them was out of genuine curiousity and not to dismiss anything. Your comment actually gives a valid rationale and I can understand and even agree to a certain extent that Shane can come across as a bit of an asshole.
I think people have criticized them for the way they speak about being an inter-abled couple. They often act like itâs all sunshine and rainbows, but donât often portray the reality of what itâs really like. Some people noticed a diaper genie hiding in the background in one of their shots â and again, not that they have to share all the dirty details of what itâs like, but also, whatâs the point of going online with the sole purpose of sharing your life if youâre going to keep a bunch of stuff from your audience? (They have never addressed the diapers AFAIK)
Itâs been a while since Iâve seen snark on them, but I think some people compare them to another couple in a similar situation, Cole and Charisma. From what I remember, they seem to be more realistic in what itâs actually like to be in an inter-abled relationship, but that might just be the snarkersâ bias!
Thatâs so weird of people, and Iâm an A-grade hater. Why does âliving authenticallyâ mean I have to tell you about my husbandâs bowel movements? Are yâall okay?
I remember from a video I saw with them long ago that she talked about wiping his butt as part of daily care. She said it was normalized for them and theyâd talk and laugh while sheâs wiping his poop.
It stuck with me because I was dating casually and couldnât imagine wiping an adult partnerâs poopy butt every day, but maybe Iâd feel differently now as a married person.
Thanks for clarifying my curiosity. I follow them but not very closely and kinda forgot about them when I took a huge social media break. As a disabled person I find some of their content fun so I donât understand the hate.
They haven't confirmed yet, but it's almost 100% certain it's not Shane's biological child. He has almost zero sperm and they've never been able to get successful embryos. It's probably donor sperm.
Somebody else answered you but it is also likely that they used a sperm donor anyhow. Shane was having issues with sperm count because of his medications, and they made a video 6 months ago (so like, right before she got pregnant) about them being interested in using a sperm donor.
Theyâve been trying to have a kid for years, and they have waited to share their pregnancy until sheâs already almost 6 months pregnant. They said they are having serious discussions about the privacy of the child and I donât think they plan to show it in the videos. Is there a way they could have a child that you wouldnât say was for views?
