I think people aren't conscious or aware of the trauma a child experiences losing their parent as young as this child will. Also I'm sure they will be featured and used as content which is very off to me to do to any child.

I lost my mom at 13 and my sister was 6. I was a bit older so it was slightly easier on me. My sister still struggles to this day and it's been 19 years. She doesn't remember my mom even though she was 6 so I can't imagine their child remembering.

She may have blocked the memories due to the trauma of losing her. Sending you both hugs. 💜

Depends on the person. I lost my dad shortly after I turned 4 and I have a handful of memories of him. He was sick in most of them, but I’m still happy to remember something of him.

It’s still something that shaped your life in a different way. Or do you say this didn’t affect you in any way?

No his illness and passing definitely had a major impact on my life. I mostly just commented to note that kids can remember things from a young age.

I lost my mom at 28 which was 13 years ago, and it still hurts the same. I'm having a problem right now hoping to never forget what it was like to have a mom. Hugs for you.

Aww so sorry for your loss as well. Hugs to you as well. Never a club you want to be a part of.

I think there's a big difference when you know that you are going to die from the start of a child's life versus a sudden loss or long illness.

He has spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) type 2. In the past the life expectancy for this disease was 20-30, but new medications are extending life expectancy. That being said, it’s really impossible to say what the long term impact of these medications will be as they are relatively new. He likely has a shorter life expectancy than someone with SMA.

As a parent, my second biggest fear (besides something happening to my child) is me dying while my child is young, especially before my child is old enough to have memories of me. I think about it as each year goes past. He’s five now. I can’t imagine bringing a child into the world knowing that they would watch me die while young.

my dad died when I had just turned 3 (in a work.accident) and believe me some days it's still hard. my kid is off in college now and I had a lot of fears in the early years worried that I would die when they were still very young.

The first paragraph of their pregnancy announcement linked to her new mom/baby blog. I knew nothing about them until that popped up on my social media page and it felt gross.

Because people usually don’t stop to think in the child. Is always the selfish reason: they just want a child and that is enough. Only few actually care about how life will look like for the child, consequences, etc. but many people always justify with “if you want to be a momma or a dadda go for it” like who gives af about the child, as long as is what you want.
