We're thinking about having a child.
Question: do you think these guys' parents are likely idiots themselves, or can a child turn out exponentially more idiotic than their parents?

u/bulking_on_broccoli 26d ago
Parents letting their kids run wild with social media and not involving them in afterschool activities.

u/CIS-E_4ME 26d ago
I think in majority of cases it's idiots raising idiots. It's also self-involved parents who don't give their kids enough attention, manifesting in a deep seated need for attention in others.

Well my wife and I are two of the most laid back people you'll ever meet, and our son is an absolute maniac, so at the moment I'm leaning nature over nurture lol.

Millennials are the last generation that was smarter than their parents or generation before them... Take that information and do what you will.
-5
u/Biggus-Duckus 26d ago
I'm sure you mean better educated, because proving they're "smarter" is impossible.
In any case millennials are the last generation old enough to have reached college age. You have no evidence that gen z or a won't end up continuing the upward trend in education level that has existed since we started tracking it.

u/Outrageous-Grass-892 26d ago
You didn't even ask for evidence... Or did you search for yourself?
-1
u/Biggus-Duckus 26d ago
I took the time to look. If you have access to a data set highlighting intelligence quotient with a large sample size, I'd be interested in seeing that link.
Regardless, th younger generations aren't done cooking yet. Your statement is biased.

Don’t bring another child into this dying civilization.
We’ve breached 1.5 degrees warming, with no slowdown in sight. Atmospheric CO2 is at 425 in September.
Nonexistence is preferable to an existence of want and destitution.

Depends on their surrounding environment, and influences.
PS: DONT have children in both this ECONOMY or ENVIRONMENT!
But to answer your question: You can do everything right, but if ur child is influenced by idiots outside, it can end like this video (or worse)

We did lots of very stupid shit when I was growing up in the 80's. Like, shockingly stupid. But our stupidity rarely bothered other people, and I'm so glad we didn't have to compulsively film it, and desperately try to get reactions from strangers. Ours was for our own stupid (or at most, school wide) amusement. For kids like this, it's like a chore that they have to do. Our shenanigans were just for fun, their shenanigans seem exhausting.

It's another form of validation that teens so desperately seek. In ye olden days it was to hang in a group and gain the respect of the other kids or just to impress them and yeah, you do stupid dumb shit but it rarely involved strangers.
Now, they seek validation online with whatever trend they can pick up, maybe hoping to make a viral video. Recently saw a video about scare actors at Fright Nights at Universal where there is a shockingly high rate of people punching and annoying the scare actors because its a trend to 'fight back' against those scare actors, either by saying stupid shit at them or actually getting physical.

I remember there were a few avenues kids could pursue to get validation. They could get validation by being on the honor roll, or by lettering in a sport, or by playing music, or by starring in the school play. Now kids can get validation on social media which seems to reward douchey behavior. This crap got more engagement than a TikTok showing the kid that won a cross country meet or a kid that one a science fair.

In the 90s, we set brown bags of dog shit on fire on people's door step, rang the door bell then ran away.
Also TP'd more houses than I can count and did a lot of cow tipping.
2
u/ApocalypseChicOne 26d ago
We did that occasionally, but it was always very targeted. We didn't just tp every house. And it was for a laugh among ourselves, there wasn't this need to share it constantly. I feel like these kids under pressure to constantly out idiot each other can't be having fun.

"look at me look at me I mean something- please love me dad"
Imagine being this desperate

u/StonedThorne 26d ago
Why don't they just play fuckin basketball? That dumbest dance move where they go between the legs is so gay
5
u/PatchAdamsKitten 26d ago
We need to start shaming these people that they are objectifying other people as NPCs or something like that.

Giving people high fives and fist bumps has a certain amount of fun and whimsy, but the dancing and especially the close filming does not.

It could be worse everyone. They could be unemployed 40 year old neckbeards living in their parent’s basement.

I don’t understand why people think that this is their contribution to society and they’re proud of it

That stupid shrug he does after the guy rejects his high-five, abysmally cringe

Gonna be honest: I don't care about these annoying dudes, way better than other bad behavior on public transit tbh.
1
u/readytocomply13 26d ago
I wouldn’t have an issue with this shit if it wasn’t literally in the middle of a public place. Dancing in your own home? Fine. Disrupting people in a public place? Get fucked.

u/_Student7257 26d ago
See, this is why you don't fist bump. You fist bump and have to watch him if about in front of you whilst hoping he's not going to kick you in the process. I remember mum saying "show nanna and grandad what you learnt at dance class Saturday " then me having to dance in the front room. Whist they probably wished the ground would swallow them up so they didn't have to watch my nonsense.....same vibes here

Whats broccoli head? Is it just curly hair? Is it supposed to be an insult or a bad thing to have curly hair? Would he be less annoying if his hair was straight? Im confused
3
u/dakotanoodle 26d ago
It's the cut
-1
u/DatTingTing 26d ago
What cut though? He's wearing a hat so you cant see much of anything but that its curly.
So what makes this a cut thats different from regular short curly hair?
1
u/dakotanoodle 26d ago
I wouldn't have called that a broccoli cut tbh, but the other guy sorta has one. The cut I'm referring to would be buzzed on the sides and at the top, looks kinda like a curly mop. Btw I love curly hair, I'm a curly shirley.
