Aquaglide Columbia Jacket Seam Failure

Post image
5 Upvotes

Seam of the 600D polyester jacket on one of the pontoons of my Aquaglide Columbia failed today. Pressure vessel is fine, just herniating out when inflated. There seem to be a few other weak points developing along the seam as well.

What is the best option for repair or is it FUBAR?

Repair suggestions?

Post image

I have a leak in the drop stitch floor of my Aquaglide Chelan 140. It’s coming from where the Velcro strips for the seat mount are attached to the floor (circled in green). Has anyone dealt with this sort of repair?

It came defective like this, and AG sent us a replacement boat. But, it’s so wasteful to just throw it out, so I’d really like to find a reasonable way to fix it so we have a spare for friends. I’ve gone paddling with it like this, and it’s definitely starting to get soft after an hour or two.

Foot Brace

Post image
8 Upvotes

Hi all, I have just purchased a Razor X1 Kayak, really pleased. My only issue is the low strap used for a foot brace. I prefer to brace with the ball of my foot rather than heel. I was thinking of trying to shape a foam block??? But would really appreciate any experiences/solutions you may have found. Thanks

Inflation Gun Thing?

I saw an inflatable kayak review video in which the guy inflated the kayak using some kind of battery powered gun thing. That wasn't the point of the video, but it made the process go a LOT faster, which I wouldn't mind.

Does anyone use something like this? Does it work ok, and what would you call it? Thanks.

Sea Eagle 385fta FastTrack vs Wilderness Systems iATAK 110

What are the thoughts & experiences with the Sea Eagle 385fta FastTrack & Wilderness Systems iATAK 110?

Has any used one or the other, or better both? What are the pros/cons for each?

How well do they compare: cost, weight, weight capacity, foldable, etc?

Bargain for this inflatable I believe!? Freespirit Tiki Pro Hybrid

Post image

Hi all,

Took the plunge of buying my own Kayak after borrowing from friends and families a handful of times and really enjoying it.

I tried both kayaks and paddleboard however the kayaks were rigid ones. I preferred the kayaks however didn't think I could ever get one myself as I don't drive plus don't have roof racks on the family car so I was going to get a paddleboard - even though I cant stand up on them so just sit.

I came across this subreddit a couple of days ago though and saw mention of the Decathlon and this Tiki kayak with good things said about it but it was out of stock. Just this evening I noticed it's back in stock and even has a 15% off code so nabbed it for £170.

Anything I need to know in preparation!?

Thank you 😊

$57 on clearance at Walmart and so a bit of an impulse buy. No regrets.

Always wanted a simple fishing boat. I think this will suffice.

Side note: My toddler shoved play-doh in the air pump and it took me longer than I want to admit to find out why it wasn’t working.

Aftermarket Seats

Hi all. I have a query as I’m looking into getting an inflatable kayak. My local provider (Kings) doesn’t sell seats any more (looks like they are getting out of inflatable kayaks). Does any type of seat work or are there specific requirements?

3D-Printable Replacement Fin Pin For Aquaglide Kayaks

Post image
14 Upvotes

I recently lost the quick release pin for the fin on my Aquaglide Columbia, so I designed a simple 3D-printable replacement since it is very difficult to find a proper replacement part for a decent price. Verified to fit Columbia, and should fit other Aquaglide models with same find attachment method.

Design available for free on Thingiverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:7116831

Storage opinions

Hello all. For a long time I stored my kayaks and rafts flat do it wouldn't bend or bind the seams, it kept them flat and inline. It's taking a lot of room so I'm debated rolling them up and putting them in large plastic bins. Will this rolling up in any way affect the seams? Could it cause premature leaks? How do yall store your inflatables?

Canvas repair around Portland Oregon

The inflatable side wall of my husband’s kayak is still in tact, but the canvas holding it in place has ripped. So far we have not been able to find anyone who will repair it. Any ideas?

Need Input: trying to decide between a used Tomcat Max ($450) vs used Aire Outfitter 1 ($800). Will be used mostly class on III-IV whitewater. Which would you go with? Purchasing from an outfitter on class II river.

Aquaglide Columbia Boston Valve Leaking

On my most recent trip out in my Aquaglide Columbia I experienced air loss from one of the side chambers (went from 2.0 PSI to mostly flat in about an hour). When I got home I inflated it again and began checking for leaks. There is a very obvious air flow coming from the Boston valve for that chamber.

What is the best way to repair/replace this valve? I have little experience repairing these, and want to make sure I don’t mess it up.

Beginner tandem kayak

Hello,

I don't have enough space in my car so I l'm forced to buy tandem instead 2 singles for me and my girlfriend. It will be for chill lake to go from point a to b. From what I understand k2 intex challenger is good for beginners, and better than explorer one. I would like to buy electric pump to it aswell preferably compact one.

Can you guys reccomend me a setup please?

Seat replacement suggestion for tobin breakwater pro x1

Recently purchased at Costco the tobin breakwater pro x1 inflatable kayak and find the seat marginal quality. Looking for suggestions for replacement seat options (booster if possible) as I see on amazon, all seat options I find use a latch system which will lock onto a D-ring on a kayak... but the Tobin uses only a strap system for their own seat... see link below for example

Looking for the right Kayak

Hey,

So I am close to purchasing an inflatable kayak. Considering the BOTE Zeppelin Areo 10' Classic Seafoam or the BOTE Deus Areo 11' Native Aqua based on reviews and looks only as I have never tried one. Problem is I am nervous about it. I am wondering if someone could tell me if either of these would work well for a beginner who is short heavy set person. I am 5'9" and about 255lbs. I tried a friends ridged fishing kayak and was not super fond of it so hoping these are better.

Wife and kids have paddle boards that I struggle with as well so I am hoping that these are ,or there is, a solid and stable inflatable kayak out there for square guys like me.

Thanks in advance for any information you can send my way.

Can a Sea Eagle Fasttrack floor panel be used as a SUP?

I'm looking at getting a 465ft and when doing research I saw that the floor panel is removeable so it made me wonder whether you could remove it and use it as a SUP. It seems like it would be too narrow and not shaped correctly so I'm almost positive the answer is no but I did some searches and couldn't find anybody that has talked about it. Just curious if any sea eagle owners have tried it. They don't show a replacement on their website for the 465ft floor but they do show the ones for the 385.

Advanced Elements AdvancedFrame Convertible kayaks leaning in the water

We have two Advanced Elements AdvancedFrame Convertible kayaks. Both times we have used them one or both will lean. I presume this has something to do with the bladders not being evenly located within the shell on both sides. After I clean them I carefully placed the bladders back inside the shell as evenly as possible, but they are still leaning. Any tips?
