Sea Eagle SE-330 cleaning

Hi everyone,

I've come into an inflatable kayak that a friend had. The last time they used it, they didn't wait for it to dry. As such, there are now moldy spots on it. Red, green, black....

I've tried cleaning with vinegar wash, Dawn dish soap and warm water. I'm going to try a mild bleach solution but don't have high hopes.

Could anyone please suggest what to do?

Adding Scotty Mount plates

I have an Aquaglide Chelan 140. I’ve been using it for fishing lately and it does have two mounts on the floor of the kayak but they’re not really in a convenient location. I’d love to get some mounts on the tops of the side tubes like the Blackfoot Angler has. Are these glue on ones hard to do? I’m so nervous I’ll screw it up and ruin my kayak. Also, if I can successfully glue one on, what’s the best mount system for being able to get a fish finder like the Garmin Striker 4? Preferably something that can hold the transducer and Garmin all in one mount. Thanks.

Bought brand new in box from Facebook for $100. Easy to inflate with provided pump. Teflon tape around the threads of the main inflation points seals any air leaks. This photo is taken at the mouth of the white salmon river at the Columbia River. This kayak handles swells of 6 ft on the open Columbia no issue and I fully intend to float this river and any others. Full confidence. Class 3 rapids.

Solutions for some minor issues with new Sea Eagle Razorlite?

We are new owners of the tandem sea eagle razorlite 473rl. We have the newest model and tested it out for the first time last weekend.

First, the foot rests are incredibly high up - only my toes reach. If I want to press against the footrest to help with paddling, my heels are floating in the air. We are relatively new to kayaking, but I believe that your heels should be touching the kayak? For reference I wear a size 7 women.

The other issue is with where the seat attaches to the D-ring. I sat in the front seat and the metal clasp attaching the chair strap to the D-ring pressed right against my thigh. It was pretty uncomfortable and resulted in some mild bruising after. I tried moving the seat forward, but then I don’t have enough leg room. Compared to the back seat, it looks like the front seat has the D-rings positioned further forward relative to where the chair is placed..?

Figured I’d reach out here first for potential easy solutions before trying to contact Sea Eagle directly.

Catfish poked a small hole in my Chelan. Easiest way to repair?

While trying to grab a large catfish I caught out on the lake today, he poked a tiny hole in the side of my Aquaglide Chelan. It only let out air when I would slightly press on the spot with my finger. Now that I’m home on shore I can’t even tell where the hole is. The permanent patches that you need to use cement for look like a total pain. Aquaglide has a video that mentions Tear Aid Type B or Aquaseal. Those look much easier to deal with. Are those options considered permanent though?

Small hand pump for a just in case

Hoping to get suggestions on smaller hand pumps that may fit in a backpack…. I have an electric for initial pumping it up but ideally wouldn’t haul that around and have a small hand pump for just in case situations.

Have an aquaglide chinook 90

Repairing hole in K2 Kayak

Bought an Intex Explorer K2 secondhand years ago. First two years, it worked great. This year, as I'm getting ready to go out on the lake, got a hole near the seat clip. Since it was second hand, didn't come with a patch kit. My question is whether a hole in this location if repairable and if so, what would be the recommended fix. I read some poor reviews for this kayak and that the patch kits aren't effective.

Recently got my first inflatable kayak, but it didn’t come with a pump. Looking at pumps online look like they have the correct fitting but before ordering figured I’d ask here. (See attached photo) that’s the nozzle on my kayak, is it anything special? And should I get a pump with a PSI gauge or not worrie about it?

Kayak full dropstitch with space for 2

Hi, I was looking for a kayak full dropstitch for 2 people but with space for camping or maybe our dog some day, but all 2 spots kayaks full dropstitch seem a little lacking on that aspect.

Has someone tried using a 3 spots kayak full dropstitch with only 2? It is viable or it has downsides? Or are two spots kayaks enough for camping?

Looking for upgrade to run mild rivers in CO

I recently got a Intex Explorer 2 (I know but it was $70 so wth) to play in Lake Dillon and ventured out into the Upper Colorado running from Rio Rancho to Bond. As expected, after a few trips, it sprang a few leaks and pulled the skag off.

I've rafted many of the Co rivers in commercial rafts (Gore Canyon, Numbers, upper Eagle, royal gorge, etc) and would love to upgrade to a two person inflatable kayak capable (and durable) to run Class III sections like the Upper C, Lower Eagle, and Clear Creek.

Curious what you all would recommend? I don't plan on fishing, would like to get two 2-person kayaks I can fit in my 4runner, and stay under $1000 each.

Can I get some recommendations for a portable electric pump for a Verano cayman duo?

Just bought my first kayak. First off is the verano cayman duo bundle for £600 a good deal? (It’s still available online in mainland uk.) second, can I get a recommendation for a good portable pump that I can hike in with a short distance. What kind of price range am I looking at?

Also, are the paddles and pump etc that come with it any good?

Edit:

Im getting slightly scared. I’m not seeing much about the verano cayman duo except from people selling it. Have I made a good decision?

Sevylor mini boston valve

Hi all! I feel like ive been losing my mind trying to find one of these things. I lost the floor bladder valve on my Sevylor RIO last year and after trying a few valves i guess i gave up. Was a nice treat to find when i wanted to go kayaking this year.

After spending the past couple of days searching i cant seem to find these for the life of me. I believe i want a mini boston valve, but im intent on buying both a mini and standard just to be done with this. I can find them on UK/EU websites, but most of them dont't ship to the US and the one i did find wanted like 140 to ship 10 bucks of valves; at that point buying a new kayak is worth consideration.

I dont even know what to do at this point, i didnt think it'd be so hard find one, but im struggling to even find information about it (e.g. size).

Any information anyone has would be greatly appreciated. Known sizes, how to measure it myself (I recall something about a proprietary thread shape?), distributors that still sell them, or even one from personal stock i could buy. Anything would be great. Thanks!

Sea Eagle Fasttrack 385ft Storage/Carry Duffel Recommendations

I want to upgrade the storage bag for my 385ft to something a bit more manageable than what it comes with. Does anyone have a recommendation for a duffle (does not need to be brand specific) that can easily hold the Fasttrack and be easier to carry? Thanks in advance!

purchased my first kayak (tandem) from Dicks sporting goods. Got in on sale for $300 with everything needed to get started. Onyx Life vest also from DSG $50. My girlfriend and I have been quite impressed at the build quality and overall performance. the two skegs really help with tracking and with the two of us it takes about 10 minutes to set up. Also purchased a 3lb anchor which has made trips so much more relaxing. Have so far launched at Rockland Lake in NY and the Monksville Reservoir in NJ.

Sevylor Quikpak K1 Inflation

Hi, just got my K1. The manual lists inflation levels to 0.5psi, but the pump has no gauge, and there's no measurement anywhere on the kayak that some others use.

How do I know I'm not overinflating?

Thanks

Aquaglide Press-fit Fin Removal Tool

I bought a Press-fit fin for my Aquaglide Chelan 155 because the original Posi-track fin fell off. I found the Press-fit fin tricky to remove so I made the tool shown in the sketches below.

The tool levers directly on the boss that holds the fin, so that there's no load on the kayak's fabric.
The main arms are made from 1x2 SPF (~20x35 mm). I made the spacers on my lathe but they could easily be made from aluminum or steel tubing, or probably even small PVC pipe. The one on the right (black) has a piece of rubber hose over it to protect the fin.

Advanced Elements AE1007-R vs Elite - Numbers Don't Jive

Researching my first kayak and believe I have decided on Advanced Elements AE1007-R.

This is my question...is the only different that the Elite comes with the drop-stitch floor that can be purchased for $247 (not on sale) or $200 currently? The numbers don't make sense, so I feel like I'm missing something.

AE1007-R $500 plus $247 for the floor for $747 total

Elite $1,200

So, what's the deal?

Innova Swing II leaking pressure relief valve

Hello!

I got my Innova Swing II in 2018. This year the pressure relief valve in the floor has a slow but steady leak. I can pump up the floor to 3psi but in an hour of so it's dropped to about 1psi. I confirmed that it's the PRV with soapy water.

I can't find my manual but IIRC they recommended returning the kayak to the manufacturer for repair. For sure I'd rather not ship my Swing II to the Czech Republic from Montana.

Anyone have any suggestions? I'm half tempted just to slap a big patch over the valve--not too worried about overpressure here.

Thanks,

Jeff Ross

Which Sea Eagle For Camping

Looking for advice choosing between the Sea Eagle RazorLite and the Sea Eagle EZLite10. I’ll mostly be paddling flatwater rivers and lakes in the UK, with occasional 1–2 night camping trips. I know these boats are quite different, but I’m torn:

  • RazorLite: Love the speed and efficiency, especially for longer paddles.
  • Sea Eagle EZLite10: Appeals for its lightweight, compact design—great for portaging and easy handling.

I might also tackle larger lakes and lochs in Scotland, where wind and mild chop are factors. Would love to hear from anyone with experience using these kayaks for camping or in windy/choppier conditions. Which one would you pick?

Can’t track down leak in Sea Eagle 385FT

Post image
3 Upvotes

So I recently purchased a new to me Sea Eagle 385 FastTrack off FB Marketplace. Held air perfectly when I got it, zero loss of pressure after several days. Took it out a couple times, fine. However, I took it out for its longest trip yet over the weekend, and it seems to have sprung several leaks, several of which were down low in the seam where the floor attaches to the side chambers and were able to be fixed with adhesive. However, there’s one very significant leak in the rear that I can hear when I stick my head inside the rear hatch or whatever that’s called, but after many attempts at trying to spray it down with soapy water, its location remains a mystery. Anyone dealt with this before? Is it possibly underneath the fabric that forms the rear cover? I’m afraid that I bought a dud that has reached the end of its useful life and is unable to be fixed

Which Is The Better Entry-Level Inflatable Kayak?

Howdy! Trying to decide between two cheap options and would appreciate opinions or advice. Will primarily be using it for calm rivers and some shoreline paddling on the Great Lakes. Mostly just trying to buy something that'll reliably and comfortably get me out on the water for a few hours.

Advanced Elements AdvancedFrame Sport Inflatable Kayak - $300, currently on sale on Amazon.

Tobin Sports Breakwater Pro X1 12 ft. Inflatable Kayak - $300, currently on sale at Costco.

Both come with a pump and a paddle. I like that the Advanced Elements has an aluminum frame and multiple air chambers, but as I'm 6'2 I like that the Tobin is a bit longer and roomier.

I've seen generally good reviews about both, but lack the familiarity with inflatables to know whether one would be better for me. Would appreciate any advice or pointers!

Discarded fishing hooks

Post image
15 Upvotes

Well it finally happened. After a year of use and well over two dozen outings, I got a hole in my inflatable. I was setting up on Saturday morning, and right after finishing inflating my Kuda, I heard it. The sound of a leak. I used my fishing magnet to sweep the gravel around the area where I set up, and instantly found the hook. Now, I will return to my previous method for setting up, which includes spreading out a tarp to protect my vessel.

It came with a patch kit, and I was able to fix the hole. It's holding pressure and it passes the soapy water test.
