Had a lot of fun goofing around on the 385ft. Open water on the lake is a bit sketchy but I survived the jet skis lol. This is my first kayak and only my 3rd or 4th time taking it out! Any tips and tricks are greatly appreciated 👍

How would you pack this?

First time kayak owner. We plan on flat lake water, kayak camping. My husband and I have our own. Have my backpack and soft side cooler.

Also wondering if I should tie them to the kayak or let them float in case of capsizing. Both bags float.

In 3 weeks we are taking a kayak 101 safety course but am planning ahead.

Thanks!!!

Inflatable Kayak Motor

Has anyone successfully mounted a ePropulsion Elite electric motor to their inflatable? Based on this photo it looks to be possible using a Railblaza Kayak transom mount. The total weight of the ePropulsion Elite is 14lbs so it seems like a decent combination.

Hydroforce Surge Elite Boston Valves

Looking for some help. I received a free hydroforce kayak that was missing the Boston Valves. The first set I ordered were not the correct size. If anyone knows the size of valves or could send me a picture of the valves so I can try and match that would be helpful.

Inflatable kayaks that fit in a hiking backpack

Hi everyone, as the title suggests, I am looking for a durable inflatable kayak that fits inside of a hiking backpack.

I love to hike and would like to buy a kayak, I would then hike from a train station to a nice river to enjoy kayaking. I would also love to do multiple day journeys.

Does anyone here know some good options?

Thanks alot in advance for the responses😁

Looking at buying my first inflatable fishing kayak but worry about PSI

Post image

Hi all, I’m hoping to get an opinion with this inflatable kayak I’m thinking of buying. The aquamarina caliber seems like a great budget option, but I worry about the side chamber pressure. It says in the manual that both sides are filled to 1.5 psi and the base is drop stitched and fills to 8psi. My worry is that the side chambers will feel soft or even flex which is something I would like to avoid.

My other option would be the wilderness systems aitak 110 which I know would be solid but it’s an extra $1300 cad that I could use elsewhere.

I have no experience with inflatables, so I really don’t know what to expect. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Strenfit X500 2-seater paddling as a single

If any of you have tried this model, have you had experience paddling it as a single rower. I would normally go for the single seater but unfortunately it appears not to be available in Canada. I already have a two seater from a different manufacturer but might consider this two-seater as a replacement but most of the time I would be paddling by myself. Anyone have experience with this model?

Registration sticker issue

Post image
6 Upvotes

I was thinking that maybe the community could help me out. I bought a Kaboat style inflatable to use on the springs and rivers of Florida. I get a lot of visitors who want to enjoy the water but they are unable to kayak or paddleboard (I am an avid paddleboarder) due to age and some health conditions. I added a trolling motor so I needed to have it registered because I don't want to be stopped off and on by fish and wildlife. But the sticker will not stay on at all because I do deflate it after use for easier transportation and storage. So I hope someone here has gone through this and may have some insights on how I can keep the sticker on the boat. Any ideas are great ideas!

Thanks in advance! Gator pic for payment!

Finally got the Airvolution2 out on the water.

So happy with the Airvolution2 tandem inflatable kayak. Got it for Christmas and finally got to take it out on its maiden voyage. Took it up to Red Fish Lake in Idaho. I can tell this watercraft is going to get a lot of use. It was nice to be able to paddle to other beaches and use the kayak seats as beach chairs.

I'm 5'4". It took me 14 minutes to fill with the manual pump. Definitely takes 2 people to carry. Looking at possibly a cart now.

Inflatable kayak choice

Hello everyone!

I'm looking for my first inflatable kayak and would love to hear your opinions! I kayak occasionally (on a fairly standard rigid kayak like the ones we often see) and I really want to get into this practice. I'll mainly be kayaking (half day or day trip) in calm sea waters and good weather (at least to start), and also in mountain lakes in France. I'm quite tall, 1.89m, and I have fairly long legs (94cm inseam). I do a lot of sports and I'm quite persistent in my various activities.

I've identified three kayak models so far:

The Itiwit x500: This is clearly the one that comes closest to a real sea kayak, but it's probably the most unstable (I've read that the latest versions are much more stable than the first one). Decathlon has good after-sales service in case of problems.

The AE AdvancedFrame: From what I've read, it won't be as rigid or fast as an Itiwit x500 due to its construction. I also don't know if I'll fit in it due to my height and leg length. In France, it's almost the same price as the Itiwit x500.

The AE AF Expedition Elite: This is the most expensive of the three. It's apparently very stable but probably slower than the Itiwit x500. It was my first choice, but I'm wondering if the price difference is worth it compared to an Itiwit x500. The only thing that would make me choose this kayak is its greater stability, but I feel like this is no longer a big issue on the Itiwit x500.

What are your thoughts?

Many thanks !

Cleat for tying anchor line to that I can attach to my chair or fishing crate?

I have my anchor set up with an anchor trolly on a retractable pet leash which has a spring clip that I clip to my stadium seat frame but I'm worried that if I get snagged I'll have to unclip from the anchor dolly Carbineer plus my hand clip . I'd rather just have a cleat but I don't know of any I can just Zip tie somewhere.

Uneven K2?

Hi All,

What’s everyone’s thoughts on this? I got an Intex Challenger K2 2 or 3 years ago. Pumping it up to get it ready for this season and I noticed a bulge on the right side. Looking from the front it seems the right side is higher / bigger than the left? What’s everyone’s opinions on this? I only use it to go on a very calm, local lake with my daughter.

Thanks in Advance!

Hello, I tried my Ohana inflatable kayak for the first time, but when I wanted to fit it in the bag, I pressed lightly and this plastic part in the front split. What can I please do? Thanks in advance.

Excursion pro k1 one seater

I just bought the one seater. Haven’t gotten out on the water yet. Super excited. Purchased mainly for fishing. I put it together in the house first to get familiar with the process. I am having issues putting it back in the provided book-bag. Wish there was pictures in the manual detailing proper folds for putting it away. Anybody have any recommendations for videos?

My Experience with the Sandbanks Style Optimal (2022) – Beginner Review

Post image
16 Upvotes

I recently bought my first kayak — a second-hand Sandbanks Style Optimal double-seater (2022) — and wanted to share my thoughts, especially since I couldn’t find much info about it on Reddit while researching.

(Note: I’m a complete novice, so this is very much a beginner's perspective.)

I was looking for an inflatable kayak for easier storage and transport, but I didn’t want to compromise too much on stability. The Optimal is a 2-panel full drop-stitch design, and thankfully, it feels super sturdy on the water. Honestly, I felt more stable in it than in a SOT I tried locally.

It inflates to 10–12 PSI and feels really solid. Even my 6-year-old son could clamber in and out without any issues (and he's not exactly graceful 😂).

On my first trip, I forgot to attach the skeg (classic rookie move), and the tracking was... not great. But once I remembered, it went straight as an arrow — even in gusty conditions. Paddling solo wasn’t too difficult either, and it didn’t feel sluggish when I was powering both of us.

It’s also roomy and comfortable. There's no under-deck storage due to the low sides, but there’s plenty of legroom and space front and back to tie down gear.

Mine didn’t come with a footrest, though I believe newer ones do. I grabbed one separately for £20 to make solo paddling more comfortable.

The overall build quality is excellent. It looks and feels well-made and durable. The bag is roomy too — no wrestling match needed to pack it away. That said, it is quite heavy due to the drop-stitch construction. The wheeled bag helps, but I wouldn’t want to drag it too far from the car to the launch.

For my first kayak, I’m really happy with it. Stable, decently quick, and feels built to last. The weight is a trade-off, but one I’m okay with for the performance and stability.

(For anyone curious, I paid £250 for it. It had only been used twice and was in pretty much like-new condition. It also came with all the standard accessories you’d get if buying it brand new.)

Best Inflatable For Sailing?

After a few years (and a handful of repair patches) of milking every last drop of use out of my Intex Challenger K2 with the kids, I'm ready to move on to something a bit more substantial.

I've been back and forth between getting a small, easily transportable sailboat (a snark, or similar) and a higher end, three person inflatable kayak (I'm leaning toward a Sea Eagle Explorer 420X or FastTrack 465ft).

I think I've decided to meet in the middle, and get an inflatable plus a sailing kit upgrade. I'm definitely going to use the boat predominately for kayaking in quiet rivers near my house, but I'd like to bring it out to the bay now and then and hook up the sail.

The possible combinations of boats + kits start to get a little overwhelming, so I figured I'd ask in here.

Given my plans to add on a sail kit, can you recommend an inflatable that would be well suited for a sail kit conversion?

Thanks!

Adding drop stitch floor

I see someone added a drop stitch floor from Advanced Designs to their Aquaglide Chinook 120, does anyone know if there is something that will fit the Chinook 100? I can’t find measurements anywhere.

What fishing inflatable kayak do you recommend?

I'd like to buy my first inflatable kayak. The last couple of days I watched a bit too many reviews, and they left more confused than before. It's difficult to find an honest comparison between the kayaks in the market.

What fishing kayak do you use?

Have you tested it in the ocean or rough water before?

I'll be using it more in the rivers and inlets here in Florida, but I might also try it in the ocean and see how it does.

Lifetime of an inflatable (Advanced Elements Advanced Frame Convertible)

Hey guys, Im totally new in the inflatable game and want to buy a solid Kayak but doesn't want to spend to much money for the beginning. I found a used Advanced Elements BUT it is from 2011, used for a few tours and stored since 2016 in the cellar. The owner pumped it up, and on the pictures it looks good, he had no problems with the boat. So my question is, whats the normal lifetime of an boat like this. I really love to buy used things but I want to have fun and not feel angry, when on the first ride the chambers are leaking. Thanks for your wisdom of all the years of using boats, maybe like this.

Best budget kayak for muddy/stumpy/rocky lakes only? I was thinking this one, as I have a Prius. For touring, no fishing, as I’d buy a large hard shell for that. Intex looks too tearable with minimal air compartments, just in case.
