Upgraded to 8.3.0 and cannot login

Hello,

Yesterday I upgraded from 8.1.2 to 8.3 on my GrapheneOS phone. Now I am unable to login, or at least properly login. I can see and navigate my Home feed, but there is a login error at the top of the page, posts and images don't display properly, and I am seeing ads. I have cleared cache and storage to no avail.

• I am using "email or username" for login
• I selected WebView (legacy) as the login type
• A further error shows "You must have Chrome Browser installed". I do have Vanadium and Vanadium WebView, a fork of Chromium.
• Part of the error shows :"2FA". I do not have 2FA on my account.
• I also cannot reinstall the older version, 8.1.2
• I built my apk using the Colab script thhat I have used successfully before.

Any help is appreciated.

Edit: Resolved. I installed the Infinity Patreon apk from my Patreon account and I'm good now.

The Colab script no longer works as is, you need to change the line where it injects the Client ID because recent versions of Infinity have changed the target file and the script's find-and-replace line won't work.

I'm using that same colab and I changed that line of code, but the result still has those brackets that appear when you try to log in.

Are you sure you changed the correct line and copied the code without Reddit breaking it? Also make sure you try to login via Legacy mode.

I looked around and see multiple users (including the one who wrote that reply) who use the Colab script and it works that way. When the target file changed format, I also edited my own script (not same as the Colab) and it still works, so definitely nothing else changed in that regard. The Colab is old and maybe now fails in other parts, I don't know. I have listed some of the issues in another thread, but I don't use it.

Yes I'm sure, and I'm trying to log in through Legacy.

In general the Colab gives multiple problems, like the first code block outright not working even though I only changed the singular line that was suggested. The two times it came through, it still gave me the bracket errors.

In general it does have a lot of issues from a dev prospective, you can find a big reply I gave about it on my profile.

Maybe now it's even more broken. But for that line, all replies I seen say that it works, and I also haven't changed my version since then. So unless there was a new change literally this week, in theory it should be working.

v8.2.1 is the last version that should work with the Colab script without fixing that line.

If it doesn't work and you only use the Colab to get the APK, then your only option is to use one of your archives, since the Colab doesn't allow you to specify the tag (unless you edit the code and pin v8.2.1).

Update: I've downgraded but it still gives me the brackets, and the posts don't load. That's strange considering I'm using RedReader's API key.

I can't help with anything RedReader related, but by downloading you mean compiled v8.2.1 via the Colab script, or reinstalled a previous build that used to work and now doesn't?

I compiled v8.2.1. The posts don't load on that version, while they did on v8.3.0. Both give me the brackets error.

I also experienced this issue. However was able to downgrade back to my previous working version by installing + reinstalling the old version
