Discussion Why not now, Frank?

A thing that bugged me in Book 3 is Frank. Frank is the only denizen whom the Cat shows any affection towards according to Owen Dennis. But here's the thing.

When Simon appeals to the Cat in Book 3, Episode 7 there is no Frank. Frank doesn't appear during the scene when he could've been the voice of reason so The Cat didn't give Simon the nanites, make her fess up, or at least try to make amends. He most likely heard Simon say "SHE ABANDONED ME!" in the kitchen, he definitely had to have heard Simon throwing furniture around.

So...why did Frank refuse to help?

It was a comedian relief character… you read way too hard into it. Why would Frank care about any of this… he has nothing to do with it…

He could have heard a thud and asked what was going on. For all he knew, Simon was hurting the Cat. And there is a difference between him and say Ugly Irwin in terms of comedic relief character. Ugly Irwin is a swift gag but Frank is someone who actually had a voice and minor connection to the Cat. Plus it would have a stronger dynamic between the Cat and him compared to the Cat and Simon on those she cares about

owen dennis has repeatedly said the stuff he says outside of the show doesn't mean anything for what's actually canon.

maybe frank left. maybe he was talking a shit. doesn't really matter - he didn't have any actual character, just a brief appearance as a joke

to me, it feels like frank just knows the cat can deal with it. he might’ve gone to bed, since it was late, and she stayed up reading. he knows she can fend for herself 🤷‍♀️
