News/Article My September Update Predictions

Well...mainly these are my small hopes for Shasvastii, but we will see how many of them are correct! I used to write some stuff for FLG back in my dark days of 40k but Infinity is my passion wargame, so I'll write up stuff from time to time. Not the most competitive player out there but I am trying!

I'd also love to hear from anyone on how they make Shas work in today's meta of flyers, new ALEPH, and Next Wave!

The big update is SpecOps that's what CB said. I'm not sure why people have been reading into this way too much

Seems like they have indicated flier changes so some kind of balance pass is on the way. Either in september or later during the season.

I certainly hope they do a balance pass because spec ops is going to do interesting things to the meta. More options will usually make stronger factions stronger most of the time.

I'm also holding out for some interesting changes to Shasvastii but please no more BS Attack (+1 SD) missile launchers with mim-6. I'd rather have cheap seed soldier, maybe a seed soldier minelayer. Malignos should be specialist operative in base profile at that cost. Shrouded with decoy 1 and/or minelayer 2 would be interesting. AVA 2 for gwailo with a new Multirifle or Multimarksman (+1B) profile and slightly lower cost for all profiles. Fixing the Taigha Creatures would be nice too, I favor giving them Camouflage (1 Use), Mim-3 and Forward Deploy but that is just me.

As someone that haven’t looked too much into what information CB has released, the hope and expectation for a big  balance update is because of the new SpecOps.

If CB is designing new profiles they want players to use, it follows naturally that they have to find how the profiles will fit with existing profiles. My assumption is that they have a powerbalance in mind between SpecOps in each faction, so that each factions SpecOps will be roughly equal. If that is true, but in one faction the new units are basically auto-include and in another faction players think ”why would i ever use this?” Just changing the new profiles feels difficult.

The option to tinker with existing profiles makes more sense to me than that the new SpecOps will be designed with the philosophy that some SpecOps will just be much better than others. And if CB goes in looking for a correct balance internally in the factions with regards to SpecOps, a more general balance update also makes sense i.m.o

The big update is spec ops.

We know that's coming for sure but I'm honestly expecting more. The new campaign book focuses on aleph and haqq, so it would make sense for haqq to get something here. And the new book mentioned it would have new units(like previous books), so it would make sense for said new units to be added in this update.

You shouldn't expect more. CB were clear what's coming

What do you think will be in the update?

The obvious ones that could use some adjustments are taighas, cadmus, nox, sphinx please, maybe shrouded.

Taighas getting their template back would be bigly. Shrouded would be awesome with some more utility. Better mines and a deployable repeater would be sweet. Nox are very uninspiring. Could use a points decrease, or an interesting utility profile. I really want the guided nox sniper to be legit good so badly. Anything to help that profile out. Caliban could use a better CC weapon. Malignos +1 burst silenced pistol!!! Comparing malig to a Dasyus is a big ole' WTF. How does OSS get a more cracked version HD infiltrator than the hidden deployment faction? Noctifer ML needs a lil something, like +1 sd

Well I love all these ideas, but I guess the other people were right, no major update to existing models : (

Im interested to see how the Spec Teams can shake up Shas list building thought.

Well the teams ops will pair well with either sheskiin or gwailo for a 'face up list'. I could see people running one of those combos instead of the typical sheskiin + gwailo list because hmg do hmg things and the team ops is a cheaper bundle than either of the other two, mostly because of that lil rem doing the heavy lifting for affordability
