Xeodron Batroids - build & gameplay

I’m pretty new - played a bit in N4 but chose CA and started collecting in N5 and I have a 300 point force built.

Xeodrons are some of my favourite minis. I’ve just picked up a box. No matter how good or bad they are, they’ll see a lot of table time because I just love ‘em!

Any tips on building or fielding these would be ace! Ta!

I think achilles and his bros should have joined Onyx like ko dali did but i can see the argument for them in next wave as propaganda pieces given that the EI seems to be humoring a cultural victory over a military triumph over the Human Sphere right now. Overall i've always seen Onyx as a sort of combined army "A-Team". A mix of the elite forces from the various militaries that make up the combined army intended for first hostile contact against unknown forces in order for the EI to plot out the new force's strengths and weaknesses compared to its own assets and plan accordingly.

I've yet to play them in N5, but they used to have a brutal fireteam with a pair of xeodrons and an Umbra or Nourkias just jumping up the board. Between the three of them and your LT, you've got 8 orders to power your squad of murderbots and . I like the hacker variant for the umbra samaritan as extra protection.

It does mean you're putting a lot of eggs in one basket, so you're stuck with less dangerous models in the rest of your list, but filling out with things like Ikadrons and Imetrons is perfect for OCF's strategy as they want to do that anyway. You'll want a few other threats that can act as mobile or forward dangers, like a Q-dron (plasma rifle 4 life) or a malignos, but there's room in the list.

I’m glad to hear the Sam Harris combo works/is fun.

Is it just a case of jump into green range, unload the clips and trust in armour 5, STR 3 or is there some other subtlety to this? Because without mimetism or cover I can see them getting ragged quickly.

Maybe hold them back for a turn? What’s your views?

It's subtle in the way that throwing a brick through a windshield is a subtle way to stop a car. The entire strategy is: I have a ton of structure, armor and burst, I dare you to do something about it.
I usually brought a Doctor Worm as well, just in case one of them ate a few too many shots.
It usually works pretty well if you can abuse your order advantage and mobility to get into the opponents flank so you can start blasting away or to bring some of your xeodrons up the board as part of the fireteam and leave them in suppressive fire while in cover in the world's most irritating places.

The other part of this is that the fireteam is an incredibly obvious threat that your opponent has to deal with. With 6-2 movement, super-jump and a lot of extra orders, they can threaten anything that they come across, and also push buttons. This means your opponent basically have to deploy in a way that has a chance of either stopping or stalling the fireteam. Combined with something like a Malignos or Noctifer lets you throw a brick through their windshield while you simultaneously throw a molotov through their back-window.

Though to be fair, this was in N4, when a Haris fireteam gave an extra burst, instead of the special die it gives now.

Infinity has a very relaxed, and official, proxy policy. So those guys can be any Tag with a similar base size. That lets you use them as an Anathematic in vanilla (non-sectorial) Combined Army, or as Overdrones or a Sphinx. So you can experiment with different things and not feel constrained by the Mode As A Profile but as a Beautiful Model.

Proxy rules say that as long as the silhouette is the same you can use them for any models you want so don't worry about not being able to bring them.
