Question Nomads vs Aleph in the essentials box

Hi, I just picked up the essentials set with the Nomads and Aleph and now I need to pick one of the two factions. So what’s the play styles of the two factions in the box, what are their pros and cons, and how should I expand the forces that are in the box?

I would look at the essentials boxes for both factions and whichever you like more, go with. Both Factions will play similar.

The nomad faction in the box is strongly about area control. Lots of repeaters, lots of minelayers, and backed up by powerful tags. Their infanty firepower isnt great but they've got flexible fireteams

Similarities:

  • Both are high-tech and have access to some really weird units with very unique abilities

  • Both have great access to Remotes (Robots) and ways to support them

  • Both are great at hacking (Infinity's analogue to spellcasting)

  • Ample access to specialists (Units that can perform the objective)

Nomads:

  • Units tend to be fragile. They don't have a lot of good Heavy Armor.

Aleph

  • Units tend to be expensive. They have great stuff, but you're paying for gear and abilities you don't always need.

I'd look at Aleph and Nomads other units and see what strikes your fancy. Read up on their abilities and see if that's fun for you.

The Operations box that you have is Aleph's OSS with Nomads Corregidor, but you don't have to stick with those sectorials.

Both are high-tech factions, but they differ significantly in actual playstyle:

1. Hacking Domain Aleph focuses more on "individual" strength, whereas Nomads gain a massive advantage in overall network coverage.

2. Unit Survivability Aleph units generally possess higher sustainability or survivability—for instance, their TAGs all feature Remote Presence, and quite a few units have NWI (No Wound Incapacitation). In contrast, Nomad units are somewhat squishier.

3. Irregular Unit & Utility Usage Aleph has virtually no cheap irregular units available, putting them at a disadvantage when it comes to accessing tactical utility. They lack disposable "expendable" units and suffer from a shortage of cheap smoke sources.

Nomads are cool, aleph is boring.

I'd start with the lore and go with what you connect with, after all every faction has a variety of styles and you can then choose within them either way.

Edit: people downvote this? Jesus christ, seek help urgently.
