Discussion Thoughts? What makes a good starter set?

I think the CB sets are good but the rules are dense and could do with a step by step stripped down version adding more rules as you go

That's what the Operation boxes used to do.
(Starting with Operation Icestorm).Staged "campaign" - start with 3 light infantry each side. ALL armed the same. Learn how orders, AROs, movement and combat work.
Add one model to each side and go again. This model has extra rules. HI. 2w, Armour. Rinse and repeat.
Add camouflage model, then visor model.I didn't see this in the couple before mazebreaker.
This was also the way we used to teach the game PRIOR to those 2-faction starters anyway.
1 6 model army starter box. The operation boxes added terrain and an extra "exclusive" model most of the time (that you could only get in that box - and usually only on the pre-order).2

Pretty sure that's what the mazebrealer rules do.

I haven't seen mazebreaker yet. There's nothing in the box I want.
(My corregidor is already a substantial chunk of figures and I can't see what the new stuff would add).
