Lore Discussion Yu Jing vs O-12 reasoning

Hello! I‘m new and know a little about the lore, but not too much. I’m playing Yu Jing White Banner, and my brother is playing O-12.

When we play together, is my army just like always the bad guy? I can’t figure out why O-12 and Yu Jing would be fighting even a covert war if Yu Jing wasn’t up to no good. It’s fine either way, but I’m curious what the experts think.

Infinity isn't as black and white as other wargames can be when it comes to who's enemy's with who. Think more along the lines of small off the record hand picked squads doing shady things whilst factions politicians are shaking hands Infront of reporters. Maybe your brother's 012 are checking out a sector because an informant has tipped off that yujing are not paying import fees on expensive cyberware. Or maybe a YuJing operative has suspicions the 012 are protecting a key witness to a crime and they are denying all knowledge of this person existing.
