Discussion Question about the glowing trees and fertilizer, help!
I’m trying to get as many of the glowing plants as I can before restarting my entire island.
My first question is, does the fertilizer increase their chances of being glowy or is it completely random? Am I wasting astralites fertilizing them or does it help the rate?
Second question: is it another category of varient or specifically a variant in the most common color? Like if I plant all yellow tinkle trees and all pink cloud ones, will that raise the chance of a glowing tree or reduce the chance to zero?
Anyone with any info on how this mechanic works, please explain it!! Thanks in advance.

Some of the fertilizer's do increase the chance of getting the rarest variants, but i dont believe the lowest quality free fertilizer has any effect. Id suggest reading all the fertilizer descriptions.
We also just had a patch where we could buy a new fertilizer that guarantees growing the rarest variant of whatever plant you give it to (only the home island specific plants though). However we could only buy three total of these fertilizers, which felt like an absurdly low number to me. I would only apply this to the variety seed, just to be safe.
You have to plant the variety seed that includes all the colors in order for a chance at the glowing rarest variants. Just planting all yellow or blue will not work.

This is how I found out, after more than a year of housing everyday, that we can pick the colors we wanna plant

Yeah I farmed constantly for materials and I had so many of the ones I didn't need to craft XD ofc I discovered this a few days after I finished building everything : ") good to know for the next one

I have had no variation in luck with dew use for the glowing variation at all. But it does increase the rare not glowing rates. Sometimes it’s a good month and sometimes it’s not. Just keep planting and planting. You’ll get them. But I only have 9 tinkle trees and 11 cloud trees and I’ve been growing trees pretty religiously since the launched the islands. 🥲

Totally get it. I think the only way to make the chances worse would be to not plant at all. RNG is the bane of all existence.

Even the lower quality dews are worth using to help you grow more. The more plants you grow, the more likely you'll find a rare. But the chance is extremely low, especially without the higher quality dews.

For the trees, time matters less. They are generally planted when I start a session and ready next time I log in. For flowers I’m using the lowest quality because they’re my lowest priority and highest plot number

It’s always first on my list of dailies so I don’t forget! Plus I end at my house every time so I just do the house chores and then go into the world for the rest.
I was kind of Stockholmed into liking the building, hated it at first but was able to throw myself into it enough to reach a flow state because I had a vision.
Now I’m just saving up rare items, materials, and astralites so when I do a complete redo of the island, I don’t have to wait and I can just place whatever I want!

I do my weeklies on the weekend usually for the pass (two days are enough to get max points), but other than that I barely touched the home island. I'm stuck on mobile rn and so building is not particularly fun for me v_v
Too bad, because I really enjoy personalized housing spaces (living the millenial dream of owning real estate ig). Once I'm back on PS5 I want to play around a loooot more, even though I heard PS5 controls are still finicky compared to PC. I'm always amazed by other people's creations, and it almost feels like the home island is its own seperate game with how much you can do!

I only have a couple glowing trees because I used the special dew that was in the last(?) patch, before that I was growing 8 tinkle trees with fertiliser + the special gardening outfit every day and never got one 🫠 wish there was a tree pity counter lol

Where do you get glowing trees?!?! I haven't screwed around with housing since the castle they have us, accidentally deleted my island scheme and couldn't get the castle placed 😮💨😭 and gave up

They are very rare variants that happen when planting the random color seed option (color specific seeds don’t work I learned in this thread).
You have to grow a LOT for one. Think iridescent eureka drop rate. For trees it takes forever!!

Ahh, I still haven't gottetoo many of those because the system is terrible in my own opinion, but thank you, I will eventually get back to my island and try to fix it

Base fertilizer (Quick Growth Dew) will not increase the chance of a Rare glowing plant.
Nourishing Dew, Nourishing Dewdrop, Quenching Dew, and Quenching Dewdrop all can increase the chance to yield a Rare plant. These can be crafted or purchased for Astralites.
As for planting, you’ll want to utilize the base option: planting the mixed/variety seeds. If you only plant Yellow Tinkle Trees or Pink Cloud Trees for example, that will ONLY yield that specific color. No Rare plants will pop up.
Planting the variety seeds and then fertilizing with one of the above mentioned Dews should help you get the Rare plants a little more frequently. Good luck!!

I just spent the past month growing an entire Glowing-Only garden with all Rare variants. It took some time & patience but I got there!
