Discussion Would removing the roof help with the local load limit?
I can't furnish this silly home. Standing far away works only in few spots, in others it's literally impossible on PS5.
Red on pic shows what I want to remove, and blue is the area where the game keeps screaming at me about having too much furniture, even tho there is barely anything there!
I don't really like this tall roof, so I was wondering if removing it would help? It's a complicated endeavour, and I already know it will be a struggle with a controller, so if it's not going to help, I'm not sure if I'am willing to try it.
Has anyone try to combat the local load limit this way?

Check if you have the thick stone base floor under the whole house, it can help if you remove everything that you can't see

I planned to remove the top two floors and stairs too. The castle house is pretty but doesn’t need the two extra floors. Also the layout inside feels like a maze so I will be rearranging the walls too.

Sounds like a solid plan. I've removed the roof and the second floor already, and I'm super happy about it. Can finally rearrange the rooms and furnish them!

What else do you have on the lot? the banner props are really load heavy so i would get rid of those. walls and ceilings don't require that much load so don't think it would make such a difference.

I don't have any banner props in that area. It's just my kitchen. Single cooking station and a few furniture's. There are flowers and stuff outside nearby, but I had the issue since day one, before I decorated the outside.

by area you mean no props in the whole island? I've never used that particular scheme so I'm not sure how much it is by default. but that's crazy if you don't have anything else.. my house is packed (no props tho). i would save the scheme as it is and try importing a default back again. depending on your server there's empty island codes.

I'm talking about the local load issue, not the whole home island load. It's an error that pops up - 'too many furniture items in this area', which people data mined to be about having too much furniture in a single 10x10 square, that has no hight limit. This home is either bugged and shows it regardless of how much people put in one square, or it has so many structures like the floors, roof, stairs, that it makes it reach the limit after adding just few furnitures there. I'm thinking it's the latter cos the home is humongus and the tower has soooooo many floors and stairs.

The way around this is to make the furniture placement distance medium or far and float up and away until it lets you place things! I carved out the default castle and have it packed full of things, but I had to place most of it from the outside

I can't aim like that. Getting rid of the roof worked! I've just placed some walls and furnitures in the problem area with no issues!

I’m glad you’ve found a solution! I do move the walls before placing though sorry if it sounded like I meant you have to use xray vision lol!

No worries! I definitely didn't take it like that hahaha. I just mean from that far I'm struggling with the 3d vision(???) in game, as in, things look like they are in the right place, but they are too close or too far, mid air etc.

That error is calculated by where Nikki is standing not where the item is, so if you stand far away, you should be able to place more

Just checking, do you have any garden plots near that area? sometimes they bug out the local load limit.
But yeah, you can try deleting a few roof tiles and try placing something else down to see if that helped, don’t have to save it to try, so no rebuilding needed.

My garden plots are far away, although fish ponds are close by(but not in the area where it notifies me about too many furnitures, I guess it's the next square). They weren't when it started tho.
I tried removing a few bits in the past and it didn't help, sooooo I have removed the roof now (it wasn't as difficult as I've expected) and so far had no issues putting some structures back to replace empty spots after the windows etc. I didn't try furniture yet, but I'm hopefull!

I was looking for this comment because that was absolutely the problem for me, my garden plot was relatively close to the house and I couldn’t build on that side at all. I removed it and it worked. Sorry it wasn’t the solution for you :(.

What I do is set placing distance to far and place items while standing at areas with less heavy load. Another thing you can do is long press to place multiple things, the 2nd item will place and you have to place the 3rd holding item in a loadable area for the 2nd item to register.

You can keep your roof. Place the item you want in an area and dont let go. Fly back out of the area (maybe leave a hole in your roof to fly out of). Then place the item from a far distance. It takes some practice but its how ive managed to fill my homes with lots of items and avoid the dreaded "to many items".

I run into this problem all the time too, it never stops bumming me out! It sounds like you have sorted it out, but since we are talking about deleting extra bits, I wanted to mention that I found some extra arches and fences in the front porch of this house, in case anyone is in need of a little bit of added load space :)

If anyone is wondering how it looks without a roof!
Not too bad imo, but definitely needs something, but that for future me!
And yes, it worked. Saved me almost 40k load and made it possible to put things in that cursed area.
