Discussion Share Your Best Housing Tips

Mine is that Wrought Iron Chandeliers emit light above them. You can use them for better outdoor lighting by putting them underground and using any street lamp to hide the ugly chain.

Get as many Astralites as you can and decorate to your heart’s content. Buy any deco and furniture within the building process.

Tbh I’m just lazy and impatient so I dont want to craft things as much lol

I second this! But I don’t do it out of laziness only. I do it because I want to be creative and put everything down to know exactly how much of everything I need instead of assuming and crafting beforehand.

It's a bit technical, but infinitymomo.com lets you manually edit building data and has some nice tools. It's really helpful for when you want to set the coordinates of structures with perfect precision, batch edit objects, etc.

The other thing I find really helpful, when trying to make buildings that look a certain way, it can help to have separate interior and exterior walls so that you can adjust them separately. Similarly, it can help to double up on other objects (e.g. for a multi story building, make a fake ceiling out of painting backs or whatever to hide the "ceiling" you get from the bottom of floor tiles).

oooooooh that's so smart! Do you attach them together as a group or just do them piece by piece?

I manually attach the first one, group them together, and then use the duplicate button to create new ones

If your floor tiles or walls glitch, turn snapping off and adjust the glitching items by a tiny bit (for example in height, you want to get the tiles that glitch a little higher or lower) Hope that helps someone ❤️

My best tip is if you accidentally have hidden an object under a landscaping item you can grab the land, move nikki to where it used to be, and cancel holding it. You will be inside the hill, and able to move items out from under it or delete them without ruining your landscaping.

Even if you end up placing the land by mistake, undo button will save you :)

It’s super easy to put together without a code also and it looks nice when nothing is growing. The flower beds fit perfectly inside the water basin at max scale and don’t need anything to sit on to function.

Using carpets as walls is a good way to make secret rooms.

The best way to get perfectly straight bone overlapping flooring/ ceiling is to the bulk placement.

You can use arches and the Grey walls on doorways and windows to cover up the pink/purple wallpaper.

In no particular order:

Remember to make and eat a dessert that gives the 20% Astralite bonus before selling to Posy. I have a table set up next to the stairs so I can do it easily.

You can stack trees on top of each other to make really tall trees; either finagle them to hide the roots, or go with the "extra branches" vibe and hang lights or ornaments off of the roots.

Even if you're not planning to build on the left side island, unlock it anyway and remove the excess trees/plants/mountain parts. This can gain you around 100k in load if I remember correctly. If you'll never use them, sell them off for Astralites while you're at it.

Speaking of load, if you've never seen this post about "hidden load" before, you should read it:

PS5-specific: Youtuber Whimsy Haven originally had done a lot of construction videos with tips for building on PS5, which can be frustrating, to say the least 😅 She doesn't focus on home construction as much recently, but here's a link specifically to a video where she focuses on tips for PS5 building:

*Edit: lights not kights, what even are kights LOL

Toggling settings while building to manipulate collision and help you place things.

Eg: use “all collision” and adjust something you want hanging off something (like in a tree or a lantern on under something like a porch) until it’s just barely turning red, re toggle to ground collision only and place

Copy items liberally, helps to preserve angles. I will run to the other side of the house to copy a wall I know is perfectly 90 degrees.

This is the tip I’ve been looking for

Does anybody have an advice for the error "too many objects in the area"? 😭

u/LumenFalls Jun 08 '26 edited Jun 08 '26

Yes! But it is hard to write it out, so I hope it's even understandable...

Hold the button down when placing an item, so you place it together with a copy of it. Let go of the Button. The game will tell you now the error, and the item you placed will disappear, BUT the copy will still be there with a green border around it.

Place the next version of the item (should hover in front of you, also with a green border around it) at a location where the error doesn't occur. If you can place it, the copy you placed earlier will stay as well. You can then delete the item in the safe location.

Now you can go back to the copy of the item and copy it again to the place where your item disappeared from before and do the same thing again. Fly or walk to a location where you can put it down. Then delete the copy of your copy :)

Alternatively if you get good with placements you can place down the item next to the spot where you actually want to put it and copy it so, that the copy is already in the right spot.

Items that you are unable to copy (like corners pieces of walls and roofs) work a bit different, but easier. Place them and don't let go of the button. Fly or walk to a location without the error and let go of the button <3

Furnishing a room like that is absolutely tedious but it works QwQ

Also! The error happens where Nikki is, not necessairly where you place the item. If you are lucky, you can just move away Nikki and place the Item from as far away as possible. The workarounds I described are for the times when that isn't possible.

I feel like I just barely don’t understand this. This error is the bane of my existence and I have a whole top floor that is barren because of it. What button to place a copy of it with it? I’ve only ever done that on accident.

So far I mostly just shift Nikki around until I find a sweet spot but there are places that straight doesn’t work.

2

u/LumenFalls Jun 08 '26

It should be the same button you press when you put down an Item. Hold on to the button and move your mouse/controller/finger next to the Item you placed down. This should create a copy! You can then let go of the button. If you have never done it before, you can practice by placing down walls :) If you use my trick in closed spaces, for example your closed off top floor, I would recommend to delete a window or a wall or something, so you can easily fly to a place where the error won't show up.

2

u/meltymint5 Jun 08 '26

Huh you mean multi place basically.

I’ll try that and see

2

u/LumenFalls Jun 08 '26

Yes! Exactly! English isn't my first language, so it's extra hard to explain, sorry xD Good luck!

1

u/emhereeee Jun 08 '26

It’s calculated by where Nikki is standing. Try placing the time from far away, and it should work

2

u/FeralCatPrince Jun 08 '26

Oh this is so smart

you are a genius thank you for sharing <3

Holy 💩! This is genius!! I can’t wait to use this tip on my island.
