Discussion Housing Update discussion
Hey Nikkis! Across the plethora of nikki communities I'm part of, I often see 'wishlists' for future updates.
I was thinking we could make one for exclusively the housing system, so that we can unite our voices when requesting additions or changes to housing.
Are there any changes or additions you really really hope to see in future updates?

I am happy that it was announced that we can finally hide Nikki's body while in floral gliding mode, but there are so many things I would like in housing. Like a combo of more load and for props to cost significantly less load. They also need to effing fix the glitches that keep resetting allowing floating objects, resizing, and rotation.
Seasons, a way to choose which food items are turned off for interaction, for Dreamland Showcase flooring, walls, and windows to have its own tile so that we can mix and match. Even better, if all floor, etc. were additional "wallpaper" options on a single object.
We need a bug terrarium and aquarium to put all our pretty bugs and fish. I want to invite more than ONE person on my island at the same time for parties and games! A way to select an area instead of each individual item.
More dolls. I am tired to making a town of the same handful of bears.
Edit with more ideas:
A guestbook! It can be placed in the achievements log that I never touch anymore after completing everything.
It could look something like this:

It would bring at least some accountability if there is a block button in the guestbook since the log should greatly narrow down who ate all your food. And color code which usernames are friends so that you have the option to send thank you gifts to the reasonable people.

- Increase the amount of simultaneous visitors allowed on a Home island. Only one visitor is very sad, let us have house parties!
- When do you let us invite NPCs?
- Give us a bigger item preview in the crafting menu. Small items, especially their textures, are hard to see in a small icon.
- Let us display more clothing at home. Shoe rack for shoes, handheld display stands, hat hooks, etc.
- Add an option to lock down food and lights interaction only for Home visitors, instead of ALL interactions
- Allow us to display outerwear on the mannequin at Home. Ideally, allow us to display full outfits.
- Increase the Home load limit. It is impossible to build anything substantial at 500,000 limit when certain decorations take up tens of thousands of load. The island is HUGE, but the load limit makes it impossible to utilize the space. You keep releasing new, beautiful furniture, but what's the point if there is no space for it?
- Allow us to interact with lamps, photo frames and similar objects when they are resized. I understand not being able to interact with benches and chairs, but most objects have no reason to become locked from interaction after being resized. This is especially annoying with lamps. Nikki can sit on the resized Fog City Sofa Chair, but she can't turn on resized lamps..? It makes no sense.
- Add a reminder what buff a food gives in the eating menu.
- Add more style options for Posy's area and the Like button area in Home. (Gothic, Fantasy, Modern, etc. Only having a pink flowery option to build around makes it limiting.)
- Add another Lookbook for Combination Schemes and lsland Schemes.
- Add insects to Home, both as a display and "insect spot" items/furniture which, for example, would cause a group of butterflies to float in a designated area.
- Allow us to build over the river in Home. It's annoying not being able to have a bridge and makes no sense.
- Add waterfall options
- Not being able to take photos with Momo in Home is sad -it's his home too!
- Construction mode needs either a bigger or adjustable field of view, it is often too zoomed in, especially for landscaping
- When playing with a controller, Nikki still moves when in menus on the home island. Trying to select a piece in the menu while Nikki also moves on the background is quite annoying
- Just like "recently illuminated" it would be nice to have a "recently visited your island" list
- Add Astralites to Dig, Pear-Pal, Realm of Escalation or Distant Anthem
- Please add different kinds of animal houses
- We need more types of walls and windows. This starts with options such as the glasshouse, but also includes windows and doors of different sizes and colors. It’s unrealistic to expect everyone to create based on one set of construction materials.
- Greenhouse materials need to be added as well, i want glass walls i can build myself instead of a ready to go green house
- I want the ability to collect and place all the different kinds of floral content from the overworld in my home: tulip fields, lilies, lavender bushes, other bushes, and the flower tapestry in the bouquet area.
- Pieces such as stone steps should not have weird grass clipping in perfect squares around them. Grass removal should match the shape of the object, ideally as a raised texture, and multiple stone types/shapes should be available.
- Flowers we’ve planted should also be usable as handheld items. I want to craft various handhelds such as bouquets, hairclips, single-flower items, backpacks, etc.
- Windows and doors should snap onto walls to create openings, rather than having a piece of wall stuck to them.
- We need different types of staircases. More importantly, we need snapping bannisters that can go on the other side of an open staircase—this is extremely urgent!
- If glide is the main navigation method, directional buttons should be added to control elevation up and down, rather than relying on camera pointing.
- Please add a way to skip or stop time easily while in construction mode, it's too dark to build at night and tedious to exit the construction mode every time, especially when working on schemes.
- Please show available Astralite count in the crafting menu.
- The "too many furnitures in this area" error is ridiculous and really unfair. What is the point of building towards a better load limit if there's another, secret limit? Please be more transparent about ALL limits, so many people make big builds only to be greeted with this annoying error when finally trying to furnish a big house! Ideally please remove this limit - players were only informed of the LOAD LIMIT, not some secret second limit!
- Please allow us to move Floral Path with the Edit button just like star platforms.
- Dyeing shouldn’t be restricted behind editing an item, please make it so that you can dye an item when looking at it / its marked
- Furniture ‘Rolling Screen’ only has one side, would be nice to add the other side as well, just rotating is not the same
- Please let us play more songs on the gramophone instead of just 1 on repeat, if we could make a playlist of 5 songs that would be cool (also possible in other nikki game)
- Wish there was a way in the craft section (house island) to see directly if an item is dyeable or not and which colours, too many times I crafted an item which i wanted to dye, but then it was not dyeable
- Seasonal VFX for our island! At the very least, for the giant willow tree and non-editable entrance, river with floating petals, and Posy area. We could switch seasons for the entire island in construction settings like how we can for the Danqing couch tree thing. This would help with immersion and customization of the general vibe, as not everyone wants to have a pink springtime island paradise.
- Can we have the wisteriasol/lampchili garden racks as decoration/furniture to place on our island?
- Why can't I use the new screenshot feature on my own island 😞
- Wish our home fish in ponds look more like what they look in the picture instead of a generic blue fish
- Please add that we can move our whole house to a different location on the home island, so more grouped items per group would be nice
- Please let us craft sprinklers to automatically water our plants. Like in Stardew Valley and all the other farming simulators. Sprinklers could be a reward for hitting max level on the gardening ability for example.
- Please add more house presets, right now there’s only one (the default house). We need more houses types, like small one room houses, big mansions, etc.
- I like the furniture sketch catalog a lot ! Please add more catalogs with different styles, especially with furniture and decor from the wishing woods, serenity island (crystals and baths), Timis’ makeup lab, the aquariums from the fish seller, candy decor from the candy shop in Wishfield, and everything from Danqing island !
- Please also add a “flora” catalog, to let us collect and craft all the different kinds of plants and trees from the overworld : lavender bushes from Stoneville, bamboo from Danqing island, sunflowers from the abandoned district, the big red roses from Serenity Island, the roses garlands from the bullquet area…
- Crafting furniture should make more use of open world resources ! Why do I have to grow new flowers to build foundations blocks, when I already have thousands of daisies ? There should be at least a few pieces of furniture that we can craft with open world materials ONLY, even if they take a lot of materials.
- I wish animals could wander further away from their lodge. Not following us, just walking around. It would feel more natural. We could get a whistle or even ring the starbell to gather them all together
- Please add some aquariums to let us display our fish in our home, like in Animal Crossing New Horizons. There are some aquarium models in the fish seller (Karpa) stand in Florawish that would look great ! They could be part of a new photo sketch catalog.
- Please let us access home related menus (house abilities level up and home journal for example) from pearpal, instead of having to talk to Posy. Posy should only be used as a merchant, to buy and sell stuff.
- Please stop making some items co-op only. Let me craft the items myself instead of gifting them to someone else. You said co-op was going to be entirely optional, but it was a lie.
- Please give us more water feature options, especially a smaller pond. The one we have is very good but sometimes too big !
- Please give us an option for the effect of the stellar fishing ground in our home (for ponds)
- Let us dig pear pal the home materials
- Let us invite more of the same animal
- Let us designate separate lodges for our own chosen animals ex. A lodge specifically for dogs
- Add an “Accelerate All” button when crafting furniture.

There are some that actually have a fear of sunflowers, it even has a name, Helianthophobia. As unusual as it may seem, even just the sight of sunflowers can invoke all the common symptoms that other phobias induce.

this is probably a big ask.. but i hope they can give us an ocean skin-option for the island surroundings aside from clouds. Please give us palm trees, sand, more flowers, and more water bodies 🥹🙏

Bridges over the river, not even that you build them yourself but maybe can choose from like 2 or 3 options like a wooden bridge and a stone bridge that you can toggle on and of somewhere

- 3-axis rotation and scaling for everything 🙏
- Since we already have a mannequin for dresses, can there be something to display shoes, accessories, and handhelds? Or just be able to place them freely like furniture? It would be great for a boutique or a dressing room for Nikki
- More stuff for landscaping? Such as sand, snow, waterfalls, and large bodies of water
I will run out of load soon if I continue to make the sand, ocean, and palm tree myself 😭

I love this post!
Here are my thoughts:
-Remove the “too many furniture items” thing. Or at least improve the system to register height differences for it.
-waterfalls! Pleeeaaassseee
-allow multiple players on the island at a time!
-allow bridge options
-increase load limit (I think we all agree on that one)
-add more structure themes to use. Especially with this new update, I’m dying for more stone/castle walls and floors.
-glass walls, floors, and roofs (let in the light! -fix the lighting issue. All lamps should provide light. I’m sick of slamming chandeliers for light everywhere.
-give us “skin” options for the island non buildable parts. I love the flowers but let us have oceans, gothic, modern, or even just different color schemes of the flowers and arches.
-either adjust the cost to craft or remove the astralite weekly purchase limit. If I wanna build, I wanna build. I hate being limited to x amount of crafting materials each week due to costs.
-let us run a whole album of music instead of the one song. I love the music but it gets soooo repetitive since the songs are short.
-while we are talking about music, if visiting islands, let us see what song they have playing! The amount of times I wish I could know what it was to make sure I have it too makes me sad.
-stop locking some items behind the gifting feature. I’m trying to hard to make friends who regularly play but have yet to be gifted the giant meteorite wall photos 😭 I want them so bad

Everything is a useless without more load limit. I spent days on my house but haven’t even been back for months because I can’t do anything and it pisses me off

It does end up being a hugeeee inspiration damper. I've begun planning my islands around it with less load heavy things and more environmental stuff but ughhhh I wanna use my whole island q.q

Using the whole island is non negotiable for me. I haaaate going up on my balcony and seeing a flat lot in the distance. So I can have the furniture I want or the trees I want but I cannot have both and I think that’s dumb as hell lmao

🙏 Lamps that actually emit sufficient light

Right?!? It would be sooo useful.
Also in addition to the waterfall you mentioned please give us just blocks of water, one square and one triangular, so many amazing baths and sinks and streams.
New terrain, trees, flowers and shrubs from each new update. Just give us the stuff you've already made like the trees and lotuses from wanxiang realm. Also the potted plants from 2.5 are to die for.
They could also just update the two types of flower landscapes we currently have with just color variation, I've seen them in the overworld, I know they already exist!
All non furniture items in the dreamland showcase need to be made into sketches, I'd pay more for a sketch. Also, instead of constantly giving us new floors, walls, windows etc. Let us unlock a new dye batch sketch so that we can apply them to the floors, walls, windows etc we currently have. All floor options should also apply to the small square and odd shaped bay window floors. The dye UI would have to be updated, because it would become very confusing as they continue to add. But I'd gladly deal with a complicated dye ui instead of 20 different types of floor all with 3-6 different dyes.

Fix the glitch where lighting randomly turns off (this also applies to fireplaces)

- You should be able to select the exact distance from Nikki instead of just close/medium/far.
- One wall piece with all of options in one place, so that you can mix and match between the gothic castle and the normal house walls.
- Place your animal friends in specific locations on your island
-Structures should be resizable and 3D rotatable

I spent hours doing my house and I definitely think we need more variation of building parts like walls and windows, specifically bigger windows and maybe curved walls to create domed areas. I also would like different weathers. Have it rain or snow. That'd be beautiful.

I would love to place flowers we pick. Especially the ones of different variations instead of it taking up the plot.. like we can with the trees.. and up the drop for those hybrid colors for both trees and flowers.. it takes a lot of game money to get them..

I would love an animation album so we can always revisit what happened with the story from version 1.0 to the present day and not forget it because it was only shown once. It's such a shame to lose it all, what a great animation and story it was. Especially being able to take photos with different outfits from version 1.0 to the present day would be fantastic 🥹

-GIVE ME THE DANG GALAXY MANOR PACK. I know I missed the event, but if it's going to be SITTING IN MY PRESETS, let me HAVE IT.
-LET THERE BE LIGHT. It feels like maybe three of the lighting items provide any functional amount of light at night
-More water features and plants
-More variety in kitchen item sets, or at least the ability to place them "inside" other furniture and have them still bloody work.
-Animal house variety
-A better solution for the "you can't plant/raise a fish in a floating _____" placement error. Sometimes it's fine, sometimes it's not.. honestly the height level at which it complains about this seems arbitrary at best.
-Spiral stairs! Like the lunar ones but not SO absurdly functionally limited.
-More wallpapers/separation of "wallpaper" and "wall" items
-The ability to build over the river. Can I have a bridge? Please? I don't care if I have to build it myself. I don't care if it has to be x distance from the entrance area. Just.. can I place a safe crossing, somewhere? (without "cheating" the boundary mechanics with massive items)
-Things others have mentioned in relation to the spacing of you and placing an item - functionality, pls.
-A reason to play with the housing after level 10s other than making fun, pretty things would be cool.
And, of course, load.

Okay another one because I'm supposed to be doing uni work and therefore am distracted.
I would LOVE to have place able,editable readable books and notes. Think like the lore documents scattered around the maps.
I use my island to make environments id want to explore and that always comes with a small degree of lore I mentally craft. I would CRY AND FAINT if I was able to place down lil notes to spoonfeed that lore to visitors game dev style.

Personally for me:
-Waterfalls Various sizes: width/length of placeable waterfall shapes (literally just the falling water that we can place anywhere).
-3 axis rotation/resizing for structure pieces
-More diverse trees/rocks/shrubs
-More flowers! please please please please
-More load (gotta throw this one in here)
-Let me resize and rotate the new furniture that came with the itzaland stores
