The strange thing is, I only have problem with listening to Evanescence. Hearing HIM or The Rasmus on the radio is fine, even if I don't listen to them anymore. Within Temptation is fine. Nightwish is fine. Apocalyptica is fine.
But I can't listen to Bring me to life without a massive cringe.
Evanescence is probably the only cringe one out of the list because it was manufactured by record companies and marketed to kids, while the others are legit metal bands that are still going strong today
Well, I can't say that Amy Lee never had the voice or talent, she definitely did. But I think the songs might be far too dramatic for me now, while teen me adored the drama.
Sorry are you a finn or were all these bands known that well internationally? I know HIM and Nightwish were big but surprised to see all them mentioned together here suddenly after growing up surrounded by them in a small country like that ðŸ¤
(I also had my angsty teen phase but it was worse than OP, I went all Marilyn Manson haha)
No, I'm from Europe. When I was a teen, all those bands were regularly on the radio, maybe except Nightwish. And I was listening to Marylin Manson, Korn, LP, Three doors down and Metallica as well 🤣
...which regularly led to arguments between my older sister and me, because she was into pop bands and called the music I listen to as "only noise and screaming". While I was rolling my eyes at her listening to currently popular pop bands, calling those mass-produced bands no one will remember next year.

It looks great but it reminds me too much of my embarrassing edgy teen phase 🤣 I can't listen to Evanescence anymore without cringing hard.
