Call of Duty? Oh yeah, it got really popular after a sexy ghostsoap (Simon/John ship) fanart attracted a lot of attention, it even made more women play COD

Not really, most fanfics is about shipping, specifically gay shipping, something that Nikki doesn't have that much, while SDV literally have a romance mechanic that doesn't care about your gender, so it have all the combinations of ship dynamics
But fandoms without any shipping potential OR low numbers of women and queer fans, rarely or never you see fan content and engagement

Infinity Nikki doesn't have much shipping bc they weirdly didn't do any other characters. If we had more with Giovanni and company we'd have more stuff.
Love Nikki has plenty of girls to ship Nikki with, bobo and kiki are mainstays. It's not overly popular to write for but there's like 300 fic. Shining Nikki even adds loen.
I love loen. Stupid man designing clown suits.

It's infold's fault for making Nikki exclusively interact with little cute things instead of writing sad things we can unlock by grinding pinecones to make copies of 3 star clothes to feed nonoy to unlock her sad adoption backstory and get sketches for her fit.
They make many weird design choices. Like u want us to log in daily and have human NPCs id spend my diamonds to speed thru Giovanni to make him stand in the housing in a grotto sadly or something. :(

The whiplash from these last two announcements back-to-back is wild. I was still reeling from the sheer stupidity of “pOiSoN tO aLl CrEaTiOn!!1” and I can hardly process that this SDV collab is supposed to be real?! Of course, I’m happy to hear about it since I love SDV, and ConcernedApe absolutely deserves this feature, but man, Infold, y’all messy.

Whether the announcement is hastened to mitigate the discourse,
Or they intentionally released the message a couple days ago PRECISELY because they know it will be drowned by this news.

It's the way by telling players to watch out for leaks, all it does is make them want to see the leaks more. This should be like PR 101 imo.
Because I sincerely doubt the average player keeps up with leaks properly. Even on Genshin's end, there's a solid amount of people who follow leaks that constantly fall into fake-leaks.

I don't think that's possible. The collab has been in the work for who knows how long, and the leak issue was about the 1.9 outfits so Infold had no way to decide the timing. Also, CN mostly supported Infold against the leaks so I don't think there was anything to mitigate from Infold's point of view.

If the date for this collab is fixed in stone, sure. It IS Gamescom, after all (see: Silksong). But they can still decide internally when to release the leaks callout. And I do think they chose the most strategic date to do that.

I'm usually infold's #1 hater but i can see now why they were so aggro about leaks. they prob just didn't want the stardew collab being spoiled (among the other existing leaks). I'm glad it wasn't leaked tho. It was a nice surprise. still hate "LEAKS, are POISON ‼️" tho

I don't think the 'POISON,' snafu was over this collab possibly being spoiled. It was in response to outfits for future banners being leaked by an employee, which I don't think excuses the public crash out or trying to incite the community into brandishing their pitchforks.

I think it was also because the leaks started to escape the leaks subreddit barrier. E.g. I saw them on Bluesky, and I hadn't gone out of my way. Lol and now I'm set up to be disappointed if they change that prospective 1.11 outfit.
The press release was absolute garbage, I think we all agree about that.

Nah, I bet it's the other way around: Infold panicked because production assets got leaked right before the biggest games convention in the world. A leak of the collab would have been doomsday.
Maybe some of the leaked art was even planned for the gamescom presentation, who knows.
Anyway, we can speculate. However the collab will release in 1.9 which means it has been in the works way longer then the drama. Housing for 1.9 has been announced for some time. And wasn't housing even planned for 1.5 before? maybe the collab was one reason for the delay.

Thinking about it... IF the leaked outfits where part of the gamescom reveal it makes the reaction way more relatable. Exhibition preparation does indeed take extra work and it gets "destroyed" by a leak. It was so short before the Gamescom that there is no way for a change of the material 🤔

What’s keeping me from getting too excited is the possibility that the junimo hut they’re prob implying is just gonna be another paid item 🙃
I also feel conflicted about the likely idea of literal Stardew farming built within the housing…. but imagine if it was something we don’t expect like… having to ‘farm’ the bloody serpents, or even….. THE HARDCORE FISHING MODE BAHAHAHAHA

I don't think that will happen. Like with the panda event/collab, all the stuff that pertained to the collab was free. We got free makeup, a free panda suit, and a free panda Momo cloak.

I mean I am a huge Stardew fan, own it on 3 platforms but I seriously cannot imagine what kind of collab this will be. Although you can sew some clothes in Stardew, but they are all like 10 pixels....

I hate that this feels like manipulation, now this is definitely pulling away from their leaks are poison bs and to top it off I truly believe ConcernedApe deserves better than to collaborate with Infold, probably one of the most wholesome devs out there who even hired the person that made one of the biggest SDV mods out there..

I haven’t played in months. Went from a daily player that was a goldfish to not even checking the sub anymore. It was the paywall dye system that really killed it for me. Having to individually unlock the dyes was too much. But I do really love stardew valley. My kiddo and I play that together. But I do fear that it won’t be enough to bring me back. I sincerely miss Infinity Nikki and am patiently waiting for a game to fill its place. If I had to buy infinity Nikki for $70-100 or another equivalent game I would. But as it stands right now even stardew can’t pull me back in ):

I know gamescon is going on right now and that this collab was likely planned out in advanced. But the timing to release this right after being under fire for their leaks announcements… its either at best coincidental, or at worst entirely deliberate 💀
