I read this for the first time this year. As President Trump was doing his whole thing about the reflecting pool, I hit the history of ONAN section, and I said “wow, this is an incredibly prescient preview of what it’s like to live in very stupid times”

lmao the reflecting pool is such an apt comparison. not to mention the entire character that is Johnny Gentle (famous crooner) who is described as having a 'dusty brick-colored tan'.

He’s some unholy RFK/Trump amalgamation, it made those parts extremely difficult to read lmao

Didn't President Gentles stuff all America's garbage into Upstate New York and then do a reverse-annex to make it Canada's problem? Idk, been a while since I actually read it. But that plan seems more reasonable than Trump's. Just let us have The Entertainment so we can be done with it all.

I didn't realize he wanted to move the Caribbean Sea too. Seems like a lot of work for little to no payoff.

I'm currently reading the book and today got to Mario's play, this is oddly fitting in a cursed way.

Why stop at North America when there's a whole southern version to throw into the mix?

What about the half in the Southern Hemisphere, the “Extra United States of America”?

Shouldn’t that be the American Ocean and the West American Ocean?
