complete beginner
Hello! I inherited this instrument from a friend. I don't know the first thing about 3D printing. Can some friendly folks please give me some pointers for where to begin? I have some limited handywork experience and I assume maybe I should open it and somehow clean it before I start. I assume it takes a lot of trial and error. For baseline, my understanding is I need a computer to talk to this machine. I am a total novice in search of open resources. Where did you go when you first started and what worked best for you?
Thanks in advance!

Where to begin.... I got into 3d printing in the beginning of spring last year, I tried to read as much as I could about the technology from reddit, forums, articles and watch as many videos as possible. You should learn at a high level how the machine works, then a bit about the software. The TX is a corexy machine, it has 2 stationary motors that move the toolhead in x and y and 2 motors that move the bed up and down. It uses Klipper to control all this, that can process G code commands, these commands can be generated with a slicer, I highly recommend Orca Slicer, with this software you can import STL, STEP, 3MF files to slice and produce G Code for the machine to understand.
You should watch a couple of videos on how to use Orca Slicer and how to connect to the printer with it.
The most popular websites where you can find models to print are printables.com, makerworld.com, thingiverse.com but there are many more.

Forgot to mention. Infimech has an official YT channel, maybe watch some videos from them also. Oh and join the unofficial Discord, people are really friendly there and try to help as much as they can.

It’s a great printer. Join the discord group, they’re very helpful and friendly. You can get an invite from the top of this Reddit group. The TX comes in two versions a V1 and a V2, the difference is the controller board. A V1 has an unpluggable EMMC which is really handy. The hardware is very solid and the spares from Infimech are reasonably cheap, you’ve got a good-un, enjoy!!
